Maybe a little confusion with title.
I have a new w.f.h. Job mid March, time is limited.
I'm guessing my i3 laptop Non HD screen is not going to work fast enough whilst I access new Employers systems etc.
I like idea of Dell XPS 13" -any noticeable difference to i5's or i7's -in 1k-1.2 or 1.3k cost,
Alternative is a Gaming laptop -similar budget -maybe nvidea 26 or 2700 gpu.
SSD essential, gone slightly mad with trundling hard drive from soon to be past Employers
I can avoid a separate Monitor if possible -not a lot of work space,.
prob 8 go ran souls suffice.
Quiet machine if possible,
1080P resolution -not expecting 4K.
What do MSER's recommend or user Review.

Entirely depends what work you do. I would recommend a different laptop for a standard office job than I would a 3D modeler.1

I won a XPS laptop which lasted a good few years. Only issue I had was with the battery after a few years, but that also happened with my current laptop. It's just a thing that happens with laptops after some time. Not an issue if you use it from the mains.
One warning I would give if you have left it until now to order. I ordered a new laptop to replace my current laptop in mid-February. It has been delayed until the end of March and it could be months before I see it. A lot of other people are in the same situation due to a semi-conductor shortage, manufacturing issues, shipping being requisitioned to transport Covid-19 vaccines, high demand (due to people working from home, remote learning, cryptocurrency mining to name three), Texas production suspended due to blackouts as a result of the recent cold snap and other calamities with the Chinese New Year adding to the woes that could be an issue until 2022. For those purchasing AMD CPU's and laptops (including mine), there is the added consequence that the majority of production is going to the PlayStation 5 and XBox Series X. I don't think that last issue will affect the XPS range because they use Intel CPU's.1 -

Excellent advise, respect your response.
Maybe I could order very soon, are 1-2 days delivery not going to happen then.

Limited 128gb on board SSD.
Since running office 365- word outlook excel power point.
A nice bright decent resolution could be vital.
Think my think pad 330 series isn't a simple SSD upgrade, looks quite fidley at best.
Desktop isn't going to be practicable limited desk space

Get a decent monitor and strap(mount) a small PC to the back if short of desk space.
(Just missed some good Lenovo deals)
Could even go second hand unit or laptop if delivery time is an issue.1
