Hi all
Round my son works with race horses and I love shouting on one of "his" horses if it's on the telly, even better if we get to see him going around the parade ring.
Speaking of DS, he is thinking of moving back into accommodation at work. It was such a sad day when we had to go and clear his things out and move him back home while he was going through treatment so this feels like a bit of a milestone. I will miss him but I also know it will make my life a lot easier just having the two of us to feed and look after. He wont be far away and will probably come home some weekends.
I have flown a little, dusted and hoovered, two loads of washing out (going to bring them in and stick them through the tumbler). Oh I will go and wash the bathroom floor too, have polished all the shiny bits in the bathroom. Finance spreadsheet done, need to do DHs February bills, think we are just having toasties for tea.11 -
75 more photos decluttered (1141 so far), and Egypt 1987, Egypt 1994 and Russia 1989 all put into albums. Those are huge milestones and the best thing of all - all the photographs are now on one shelf in my office. At least I thought so yesterday, and then realised I can only find one photo from Egypt 1997 so I absolutely know there are a whole lot more, as in several hundred, in the attic. I popped up there this morning to try to find them but there is just so much STUFF up there I can't put my hand on them. So, that's another reason to get on and get up there to declutter all the crap that can be degibbled through the Scrap Store, CS, Gumtree and tip.I'll get back to the filing cabinet tomorrow; for now I've reached a point at which stopping is a very good idea. A dog walk and then I'm pretty much done for the day I think.Better is good enough.10

HB I always wanted to go to Egypt x
Bit and bob day. Shredded some more ancient stuff from DG’s. I have streamlined the box and bags I have here from there. I now have a bag for each of my sisters and 1 to go back.
I have been looking at properties that have been near by to see what can be achieved. We still haven’t decided whether to move or not.
Job applications submitted. I keep getting refund cheques in misspelled names or nick names. I haven’t asked for them as they were supposed to refund to my Mum’s account.I think they may be doing it on purpose.
Went a walk and whilst I was waiting for DH to come out of the shop I was dive bombed by seagulls.10 -
Well done pigpen, HB and dancemum xxx
Today was sunny so I decided that we would have an early-for-us lunch and then I would go out in the back garden for an hour and rake dried-up oak leaves off the flowerbeds. It was quite cold out there! I also cut down last year's now-dead growth on the Michaelmas daisies, buddleia and fuchsias - yes, I know we might get more frosts, but I couldn't stand the untidiness any longer. Apart from the lawn, which is a disaster area, it all now looks quite nice, and although the purple crocuses are almost over, there are lots of other bulbs coming up - particularly hyacinths, of which I grow new bulbs indoors every winter and then plant them out to naturalise. After 7 years here, we should be getting quite a show this spring
I have also sorted an admin list that gives me an excuse to make plenty of phonecalls to friends this coming week
I also took Rosie for her walk, up onto the fields. DH went for a 20 minute walk round a triangle that takes me 5 minutes.

Well that didn't quite go to plan.
I did endless food, 2 runs of WM and DW, Collected Tesc0 shop, went to the Range for hinges and paint (I want dusky pink gloss.. it is like rocking horse droppings!) and while there I remembered to buy washers for the shower! Only needed them for about a year. I put the shopping away, made pack ups, found bottles and shoes and coats and ear defenders and uniforms and PE bags and filled them and book bags and bobbles.
I vacuumed the moomin room, moved her furniture around, emptied the Hetty, twice, emptied her bin and refilled it, put her dressing table back together, filled a box of things she needs to find homes for.. I think she needs a shelf or 2. I told OH what he had done wrong hanging the door.. he put the hinges too close so the door bounces open.. he is a qualified level 3 joiner.. he should know this!
Tomorrow.. I am not moving out of my chair.. tomorrow...

Evening all, I've done quite well with flying today, yesterday was mainly gardening. I'll update my list in a bit. DS1's birthday today he is 27, how time flies.
Mum3 please don't stress and enjoy your little ones. My house is not perfect now but it is much better than when my 3 were little, little people make a lot of mess and take up a lot of time. I remember the move from a small 2 bed flat to a 3 bed house and then to a 4 bed one, bigger houses take so much more keeping on top of. Don't try to do it all in a week, you just can't. I used to try to do mine on a 10 day rota, each room got a day of the week, hall stair and cloackroom all together was my favourite day as there was less stuff in those areas. I'd S&S really regularly and push the hoover or mop the heavy areas every couple of days but if you break it down to one room it is easier. Then even if you only have 15 minutes you can make a difference in that room. It sounds like you are struggling a bit with the grief from you loss of your Nan. Grief is normal and important but don't let it overwhelm you, if it gets worse then seek some help. Big hugs for you.
Jazee I am so sorry you have experienced so many losses in such a short time.
HB amazing on the photos, I have just been going though the albums we have with DS1 and his gf but they stop at about 5 years old. I really want to put some of the other photos in albums now, you have inspired me. I'll wait until the table in the living room stops being a greenhouse and will then make a start. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair11 -
mumof3.12kindebt said:Trying to keep on top of the house is getting me down, I'm not going to lie, I've felt like this for months now since I've been more poorly physically and my nana passed away. I've definitely hit a wall and feeling very low most of the time. The only Time I feel like me is at work. I've been trying to spend more time to spend quality time with the kids. Because since we moved here (we were in a 2 bed flat and now in a 5 bed 2 bath house) I've never kept fully on top of it.I think I need to focus on daily stuff and then organising one area of the house at a time. I hope that that will mean I have more time for the kids and come Sept when they are all at school full time I'll be able to get everything done while they are at school bar tidying up after dinner and just generally be in a better routine.
I'm at work today and tomorrow and Monday afternoon. so I'll concentrate on hot spots the next 2 days. My first shift in charge today. After completing my refresher training (Done the same role before in another job) bit nervous but we are dressing up and doing a Welsh afternoon for them so it will be fun also.
Also been toying with the idea of getting a dishwasher .. and I'm going to get the tumble fixed at the end of the month
Things are harder here atm as oh has severe pain in his chest they said it was ligaments but he had a ct scan yesterday so hopefully we will know more soon. So he's not able to do much at the moment so it's all on me .. with the help of the kids.. apart from when I ask eldest to do something recently he's been saying yeah I will soon or later and it doesn't get done and tbh that's been peeing me off... he's 12 .. won't even make his bed .. says why should I when I'm just getting back into it again... God give me strength !
GET THE DISHWASHER!!!! ... it is the one thing I absolutely could not under and circumstances live without.. my daughters 2 oldest load and unload theirs.. they are 6 and 8.. so your older one/s have no excuses.
If boyo doesn't make his bed or tidy his room.. shut the door and walk away.. and once every so often after weeks of warning go in and gut it.. I did this 2 or 3 times with my daughters.. I sent them pictures all day long while they were at school of the binbags of rubbish we took to tip before they got home.. in reality I never threw anything away which was not rubbish I am an expert stacker and I just put everything away!
With mine I ask them ONCE to do something.. if it is not done I TELL them to do it with a time limit.. like finish that level/get to next save point/end of episode.. if it is not done it is console ban and they get more jobs to do.. My 22 year old is THE laziest dollopo of dung every to draw breath.. the bedroom is a pit.. I shut the door and ignore.. The only things I ask are the litter trays to be cleaned once or twice a week and to occasionally load the DW.. I'm not even demanding!
I was going to draw up a list of jobs and they could pick which they wanted but I just haven't had time but it is still in my head to do.. I might do it a bit differently eventually.
When they are all a bit bigger and you can fling all the revolting toys and baby gubbins your house will be quiet.. and stay tidy .. you will miss the mess.. Have a 5 minute 'kick it in the corner' and push it around with the vacuum.. it won't last forever.. be kind to yourself and enjoy those babies.. they grow up way too fast.. my oldest was an adorable angel 30 10 minutes ago... he is 30 in September!
Did you get any answers for the manbeast? My friend was told something similar and she had pluerisy with ligament strain.. hopefully it is something simple and he can get back to pulling his weight soon .. Stick with the necessities.. it will all come together.. and maybe see if your budget can stretch to a cleanerxxx
If you still feel bad about your house being a mess let me know and I will do you pics of my sty!

Oops it is already tomorrow.
Anyway Weekend Willi finally came round for half an hour so vacuumed all downstairs rooms and the stairs; put away lots of things in lounge/dining room/kitchen which were in the wrong place, polished/dusted anything glass/wood, vacuumed up plenty of webs.
- Mr N and I had a good prune/tidy of the flower bed outside the conservatory as it is always best in spring so needed clearing of great clumps of allium which produce lots of leek-like leaf but rarely flowers, hacking last year's rampant passion flower and clematis and pruning various perennials.
- Got quite a lot more forward with the photo book. I know I'd wanted to finish it today, but ho hum it is doing well.
- went to church service in real life!!
- sent e sympathy card to church friend who told me this morning that her father died last week.
- answered a complex email from a fellow assessor about new procedures.
- typed up and sent session summary to student
- checked this week's diary and added a whole more things to task list.
Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.8 -
Narco.. I haven't forgotten to email.. I've been decorating.. and nothing else has got done.. school tomorrow so I may have time to think for 5 minutes.
Moomin loves her room thank goodness.. but she doesn't know what colour the door and fireplace need to be either lol.. I like the ideaof white but it will be filthy.. so a darker pink might work.. I left Moo in her room petting her new fleece duvet cover.
Cats fed.. everything school located.. Cuppa and bed I think.. We will be dead tomorrow night so may get to bed at a reasonable time. I will probably need to de-glitter the bath tomorrow so Dot can have some 'wind down' time in it.. if it has bubbles it makes her happy.
I need to dunelm.. Their flannelette sheets are dirt cheap.. I need those.. and there is a mirror I have my beady eye on (need to ebeast first!) and they have a light shade I want to look at .. I love having a happy Moomin.. She walked in her room and gasped 'Oh wow!!!' ... that's all I needed!
I will add bedroom pics tomorrow if I get chance.. and the cat footprints on the carpet after the furry idiot stood in the tin of paint.. it was under a table, he is now a pink panther... and he did pink glittery vomit on the bed after cleaning himself a bit... on OH's dog blanket so he wasn't skinned and made into mittens lol.
I'm not sure how many hours are in tomorrow but I have planned an awful lot!
And I'm going to paint the kitchen a pale teal colour I think.. when I've robbed a bank.
