I confess to having a serious wedge of euros at home, we normally travel to corfu every year and go to other places so never exchange them. I tend to forget about them and its a nice surprise when I realise we have most of our spending money already.Mortgage Free 23 December 2020

@Porridgecat I love that feeling, I know there would be serious tuts from the investment boards on the impact of inflation though
. As an experience, it's probably going to get rarer because I carry so little cash now.

That’s true for here, but I reckon Europe will still be more cash friendly/less willing to accept cards. We haven’t used much cash here in a long time, but it’s not possible to get by abroad without cash (unless you only buy from supermarkets etc). It all stems from Nazis seizing bank accounts or something like that - especially in France and Germany.

My parents (in France) are very committed to cash, but have to wrap it in foil in the house to stop the mice eating it

Brilliant! That’s another reason we don’t use much cash - one of our cats is partial to plastic bags (and headphone wires). He’s yet to try it, but we don’t trust him with the new plastic notes!Chiglepig said:My parents (in France) are very committed to cash, but have to wrap it in foil in the house to stop the mice eating it

Would keeping the notes in a jar prevent the cat from getting to the cash?themadvix said:

Yes - we just don't use cash though and are always careful not to leave it (or the many other things he'll eat) lying around!Baileys_Babe said:
