If I was being asked to pay that amount of money, it would be an emergency.Stu2985 said:
There telephone number states for emergency use only and to use email contact.
I phoned them when I switched to them and they dealt with it, my house wasn't about to explode or anything.

I just changed my energy supplier from EDF to Avro, so far there is no problem. The only thing I have noticed is if they say you need to submit meter read by let's say Feb 28 - make sure to send it exactly on the day. In my case, I have sent it on Feb 27 which in fairness appeared on my satetement as actual read, and yet still added another day for Feb 28 and put additional 6kwh on gas and electric as Estimated.Gerry1 said:- IIRC Avro readings have to be given within a very narrow window, possibly only one day (which may be a day or two after the reminder arrives). If you don't sent it on the magic day then your bill will be estimated. That was a year or two ago so things may have changed, but that might explain why your bills have been estimated despite you sending readings. Try sending a reading each day for a few days after the reminder arrives and see which one turns into an actual reading.
save for the rainy days1 -
I wouldn’t worry too much about being a day or two out, it’ll sort itself out the following month.1

Right firstly thankyou everyone for all your help and advice especially those who noticed the double meters. I did email and question them again with the information and now several emails and days later I have had from AVRO a very short email "The meters on your account have been amended and are showing correctly. Your bill has been amended".My accout now only has 1 meter of each type and I have gone from being nearly £600 in debt to £140 in credit.. No apologies or offer to refund the £260 odd quid Direct debit they took out but truthfully I am just relieved its over and dont have to find another £260 this month.Once again thankyou everyone for your help and advice its saved me a lot of stress and money.1

Thanks for reporting back. Glad they sorted it for you.
Did you ever find out whether your old supplier were making the same mistake, because if they were there's money to be claimed back from them!2 -
