Thanks for lists, even if I do my own thing. However achieved quite a lot today:
- lady came to collect a load of files, plastic wallets etc plus the 3-tier letter rack
- that left me to sort out just 1 small pile of paper to make the shelf unit empty. Couldn't work out why I was so reluctant to get rid of the shelving - it cost nothing at the tip; it's rickety and takes up space I wanted to free up. Kept telling myself it is the shelving or my drums for that space.....still deliberating. Then it dawned on me; that humble shelving unit was my official start to a proper professional organisation method when I first went out on my own as a freelancer. Everything clicked into place; yep, that's why I'm attached to it and that's why I can let it go. Photo'd it; measured it and put it on local FB. Within 5 mins someone had snapped it up and now it has a new home. Phew. But how strange the psychological effects of some objects are.
- found a tatty magazine box full of 'special' cards - from Mr N, family, special birthdays etc. Mm. Found an unused folder and organised them properly which takes up less than half the shelf space than the box. Box can be recycled.
- washed all items in the kitchen drawer which had to be moved when Mr N was drilling for the new hob. Now on draining board so will sort and put them back in drawer tomorrow. Ditto the two pull-out units below the hob, both of which Mr N replaced the runners/ball bearing thingies in today.
- had a Zoom meeting with work colleague, then on her recommendation, a Zoom presentation by the uni who had asked an author to come and discuss/answer questions on her book. I hadn't read the book (The Five) but it sounded interesting.
- booked optician, earliest I could get was 10 May but that's fine as technically not due until July, but May is 6 months since I had the telephone contact lens check.
- ordered a fruit & veg box which a smallholding family in the village have been organising and delivering, kept meaning to try it.
Home made pizza for tea while watching Boris. Looks like I'll be able to stay in a B&B and do day visits to my Mum about a month sooner than I would actually be allowed to stay with her, which makes little sense but I'm sure we will work it out. Looks like no face to face uni work for me until after Easter. Keep checking for date extension for remote assessments.
- had long conversation with mobile provider after sending them a complaining letter last week; we seem to have had notifications of 'disrupted service' for the last 6 months. Another 2 weeks it will be fixed apparently....but no refund for me as I'm not on contract. I reminded her that a 30 day flex plan which they actually deduct from my bank account isn't exactly PAYG as I am still paying for something which is sub standard. She offered me £5 as a gesture of goodwill, whoopy do.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.11 -
Evening all
sorry I’m late. Thank you for the lists.
TV stand dusted
towels and some bedding washed. Miss Muddy Paws was sick in my hair at 2am this morning. She is on antibiotics and ear drops.
Managed to paint a corner of my living room on Saturday. Slowly getting on top of the damage. I’m asking myself each morning which task is annoying me the most or would make the most difference to my mood, I then do it (if possible or do part of it if necessary)
Dusted a little way under my bed and replaced the curtain rail dehumidifiers.
I have rehomed quite a few items on a pay it forward site. I will have a stick and span house.
My binL rang me and said he could see the progress I had made at dancegran’s. The beds have been collected by the bulky waste service so the neighbours will be happier. BinL has taken some drawers to the tip for me.
DS2 sent me a video of a rat that he had filmed outside his patio door.

Evening all! Yes, I am here - sort of. Today I have
- hoovered all through downstairs
- S&S'd kitchen
- S&S'd ensuite
- watered all the houseplants and moved some of them round for a change
- WM/TDx2: I only TD until damp dry so everything is now draped over the airers in the bathroom
- checked finances
- made a long phonecall
- looked up some music for a work event
- taken Rosie for her usual walk
- sorted more ancestors' paperwork into separate punched pockets, emptied several shallow boxes, decluttered a few bits of unwanted paper, found absolute proof of an 1832 marriage record being the right one (the date means that I can't order a certificate, so the firm evidence has been hard to find), and ordered one death certificate which I hope will finally close another line of enquiry
- fed DH lunch and evening meal and made him several cups of tea/coffee: he is not in a talkative mood...
I've still got some important paperwork to roll over to tomorrow, and I must go into town and buy Rosie some more food: she only has half a bag of the salmon flavour which she loves (but it's not the seniors' version, and I don't want her to get any fatter so it's strictly rationed) and an almost full bag of the W1lk0 second-cheapest seniors' turkey with rice which, it turns out, doesn't agree with her, so I will pass it on to somebody else's dog.
Well done to your DD, Fayolle xx
Hope you feel better tomorrow, YL xx
I'd better put my computer to bed and get a comparatively early night myself too.

Morning all. Hope you're all ok today.
Valli, on your recommendation I watched Unforgotten for the first time ever. Really enjoyed it.
I will do some flying today and have a dentist appointment too. I tried crochet last night, not a great success yet but think it's because I'm left handed.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.11 -
Morning all, I'm in today but not sure how much will get done in the house as have a list of chores out and about to do.
HHI done
WM x 1
TD x 1
Bed made, clothes picked up, windows all wide open
1 Pellet stove cleaned, will do the other one when DD1 has a pause in her studying
Off for coffee and cake with a friend this morning
Phone call made

Morning all
Jazee - Learning to crochet is also on my intended list after I have finished the dratted knitted jumper that is lingering - last piece to go but no motivation. Any luck, the weather will improve and I will find my allotment mojo so that both projects will yet again be assigned to a forgotten corner until next winter...
Wm on, dw emptied, clean washing swapped around in the airing cupboard, bedroom tidied and fresh air blowing in. DD wants me to accompany her to small town later to pick up some stationery bits, so I have cancelled walk with a friend. I have a stack of smallish jobs that I would like to get done, and was motivated about 10 minutes ago. That seems to have disappeared. I have 30 minutes before going to the dentist, so not much point in starting now really....not the attitude!
Hugs all round, I’m holding my sticks for the moment. Have a lovely day all xx9 -

looks like a lovely day here. And the forecast for the rest of the week is v. Good.
Very happy with new pillows - coughing much less and when I do it's nowhere near as bad.
