The Switch Which website asks you on the initial search both how you currently pay and how you want to pay, so should be easier.Yes it did thanks! It says how would you like to pay and there is an option for pay on recite of bill and I got to the next step, but there is a problem now! I can not select any of the options. Have a look at the screen shot

All but some of the more recent smart meters are no longer smart if you switch supplier. If you want to know why, search this forum for the many discussions mentioning SMETS1 meters and enjoy some heavy reading. Thanks but I dont have time LOL. But I'm sure the energy companies are making a complete fraudulant scam out of it! only if the ombudsman are making money out of the scam too

I mean read the 7 pages of this thread.there are multiple simple questions we’ve asked you so we can help you which you avoid on purpose. Your situation is simple to resolve but you’re trying to make it as lengthy as possible by being vague and not answering the question.free_money_tree said:

you have a 90 pound debt on your bill. It will be easily explained by providing the last ebico bill.
READ YOUR METER AND SUBMIT A READING TO BRITISH GAS. then pay up and you can go and make a contract that you want with another supplier if you’re not happy.1 -

In case you missed it the first time.... Although estimated, the BG estimates are inline with the meter reading you reported yesterday..... so are not way out....You say you use 1200 kWh a year. That's roughly 3.3 a day.
BG opening reading on 16th Nov was 1640. They estimated 1945 on 28th Jan. So 305 kWh over a period of 74 days = 4.1 kWh a day. Which given it was the coldest and darkest time of the year is probably a very good estimate.
Look at it another way, the reading was 1640 on 16th Nov and is 2004 today on 22nd February. That's 364 kWh over 99 days = 3.7 kWh a day.
So, the BG estimate is not way out, it's actually pretty accurate. They've not made a mistake. You have not been
But if you chose to ignore this then fine. It maybe doesn't fit your agenda. Enjoy the debt collection agency.0 -

Your original question "Help needed understanding electric bill: This was very simple to do, and has been answered multiple times.
Unfortunately you have failed to comprehend any of these answers.
It was simple, Ebico went bust, in order to keep you supplied BG took over.
You then owed money for use just prior to the takeover and usage used until BG took over your account.
You have now received your bill stating amount and usage.
This was very clear on the bill
This was estimated as Ebicos smart meters do not work with BG systems.
Lucky for you, the BG estimate seems to be comparable with your usage.
You, once you pay the amount owing are free to go to another provider.
Posters here have tried to give you advice on how to do this and to save money.
Which you again appear not to have understood.
The switch sites will tell you choices.
The ones they get commission on are the most expensive and they will switch for you.
The ones that are least expensive they will still tell you the providers but you have to go the the providers site and do it your self.
I get the impression you expect others to do everything in life for you?
This is not the case and sometimes you actually have to think and do things yourself.
The quote symbol "Cogwheel" is in the top right hand corner
But ignore my opinion as well as you appear to think we all work for the devil on this site?
That's incorrect we cannot do that and be members of the BabylonianBrotherhood at the same time.
Sorry But you have done yourself no favours.
People here try and help others and spend time and effort to give advice freely.
If you did not wish to act on it then fine.
So good luck with all your problems, conspiracy theories and opinions.
