What card fee's?elwon20 said:
I genuinely didn't. The fact that it was split over more than one card, and there were card fee's complicated things slightly. But no, I didn't personally add up the figures there and then. I told them how much to take from 1 card. Put in my pin. Gave them my 2nd card. Put in my pin. Had them tax it. Signed the forms, went to the car, bought insurance in the car (already had a quote just had to click yes and put in my card details) and left.Manxman_in_exile said:You didn't notice that they'd undercharged you by £2K?When we bought our current car I paid £10k on a card and I double and triple-checked the amount was correct before authorising it. You didn't?
They can not charge any extra fee's when using a credit card.
Also if you spread the cost over 2 different credit cards, be prepared to have the card providers want you to take it up with the other to cover their part of it.
Might even find that they will want to look at a chargeback for faulty before looking at S75.Life in the slow lane1 -
Where does the 8 weeks come from?williamgriffin said:
So you need to speak to the card company because as I see it at the minute you will wait 8 weeks for their decision and they may say return the car.
8 weeks is a complaint timescale before you can go to FOS. Starting a S75 case is not a complaint.
There is no time limit on resolving a S75 claim, even if you raise a complaint. They take as long as they take.Life in the slow lane0 -
They charged me 1.x% (I don't remember exactly) for using credit cards, they said this was to cover the fees they pay. The rate varied as one was MasterCard and the other visa.born_again said:

Unfortunately, I've already sent them £1000 via bank transfer since then. So I doubt that's an option.

Looking back at the receipts, actually, roughly half was paid on a visa debit card... the other half was on my MasterCard credit card. IIRC, they charged for both but I honestly can't be certain... they certainly charged for the credit card.0

So they are breaking the law by charging extra. Unless you were using a business credit card.elwon20 said:They charged me 1.x% (I don't remember exactly) for using credit cards, they said this was to cover the fees they pay. The rate varied as one was MasterCard and the other visa.

That will give you some leverage against them...
