Three year fixed 1.05 - Oxbury Bank

  • Well, that'll teach me to be so smug!
just went to add to the Oxbury account on the mandate I'd  set up, got OTP code and money was sent, immediately got a phone call from Santander asking me to call Fraud Squad!  Hung on for nearly 10mins, then after long time answering security questions such as last payment into and out of account which I couldn't answer because they blocked the account! Had to ask the other account holder to go onto his using his mobile banking. After 22mins  it was cleared and the payment went through.
2 seconds later got an e-mail from Oxbury thanking me for transfer!
I did warn Santander I was going to send the same amount again to Oxbury from another named mandate and he said it would be fine.
Worn out feeling I was on Mastermind!

I wonder if this is in anyway due to the fact that Oxbury have not yet signed up to the “Confirmation of Payee” protocol?
Good in a way that Santander are on the ball, but my payment hasn’t gone through yet so down one days interest  >:)
Also, the 3 year bond is not yet visible on Oxbury website by normal navigation. You have to know the address for that particular bond to get to the application link. Anybody (Santander security for instance) therefore seeking to verify the existence of the bond would be unable to find It without the prior knowledge of the exact website address.
  • Yep, tried again to send to another payment and got blocked again. 30 mins this time through hanging on and then security.
then it was allowed through. Even though it was to the same bank obviously the mandate was for a different account number. Joint account would have been so much easier.
I would like to make one final payment before the 18 day allowance closes, but it it gets blocked again, and it could, don't know if it is worth bothering with. Lost 1 hour today and don't think the Fraud no. is freephone 0808 2802613, so second time went through 0800 number.
There are so many scams around at the moment I can appreciate the heightened security, just slightly wearing today though.

How do you get the invitation please?
Is the link on the OP not working for you?

Just a follow up. My deposit made it to the right destination account just a few minutes ago.
So well done Santander for being on the ball and well done Oxbury for the receipt confirmation which was issued without any delay!
Hopefully subsequent deposits will now go without a hitch!

Update to yesterday's last post. Same sequence of events today with Santander re second tranche blocked.
Whilst I would never criticise too much security, it's now becoming a pain as two more tranches to go.
  • I agree, just sent Oxbury an e-mail pointing out the problems, also can't get past the 'adding your mobile for extra security' page after logging in. My husband has registered his on their app, facial recognition etc. My iPhone won't let me register.
Ironic as years ago I did just this with Atom Bank, voice & face recognition and that was with an older iPhone.
  • Just had a nice reply from Oxbury, they are in the process of setting up a confirmation of payee system but it will take a few weeks. they are also aware of some customers problems with sending funds, i.e. security flagging up and consequently blocking accounts.
However since their sort code is in 'sortcodes.co.uk'  checker it shows up as Oxbury Bank PLC, so really not sure what the problem is for banks?
Can't unfortunately help with phone app for older phones but can get in touch other ways phone call or e-mail.

I have had a similar exchange via online chat earlier this afternoon.
There is absolutely nothing "fishy" about Oxbury Bank whatsoever and cannot understand what Santander's problem is.

Maybe you could share Oxbury`s savings phone number because I can`t find it anywhere.
It`s not obvious on their website under contact us.
