This thread has been really useful for me as well. I’m in the final stages of buying a house and plan to fit some floor to ceiling wardrobes in. Given the insane price my parents paid for theirs I was planning on doing it myself, plus it’s an excuse for some new tools.3 -
I moved back to Southend (the nice bit) and bought my ideal home in this exact area close to the sea for over 7 years

It been 3 years of renovation, with this year being the big one. My builders are like family now!!

I love this idea of a library, couple of nice comfy chairs and you have a perfect room.
Id install a kettle if it was me tho
that way I don't need to get up to make tea ! 0 -
I'd install a cocktail cabinet, that would be much nicer! Seriously that is pretty much what Cicero called the ideal house, he said that one needed a library and a garden. Interesting that not much has changed in the course of two millennia.Monsternextdoor said:I love this idea of a library, couple of nice comfy chairs and you have a perfect room.

Thankfully, Billy is height-adjustable, so room can be made for a decanter and a pair of glasses.1

Just a pair? In my dream library there is not only a fully stocked decanter cupboard but a glass fronted cupboard of the correctly shaped glassware for any and all libations! In addition to the 40,000 or so books, ms etc. My current Billys are stacked two or three volumes deep at the moment as I've run out of wall to put them on and both my kindles are also full."She could squeeze a nickel until the buffalo pooped."

Yep, that's where the alcohol and Stressless recliner is going to be housed.goldfinches said:
