keep boys willies covered when you undo the nappy, as the cooler air can lead to a face full of pee.

Apparently my party trick when I was a baby was to make fountains when I was having my nappy changed, and giggle while I was doing it.
  • Your laundry will increase....a lot.

It takes time to get anywhere when they are little. By the time you have packed and grabbed the nappy changing bag, got the baby into his/her coat, realised they have filled their nappy again and had to change them and get them into their coat again and got them into the pram/car seat/sling another 30 minutes will have gone. Allow yourself time to get out of the door.

A daily walk is to be recommended. Fresh air for you and the baby and a change from the 4 walls of home is good.

Its never to early to read books to babies.

Housework can wait...you never get back that precious time when they are little. I wish I’d realised that with my first 2. Take time to play...they will remember the games played, the Lego models built etc

Parenting is the most amazing adventure. You will feel more tired than you ever thought it possible to be but you also have times of such joy and elation you never thought possible.

As a mum of many, it is fascinating to see the relationships between siblings develop.

There is never a dull moment!

  • Repack your changing bag when you get home; easier to grab and go.
Have a couple of spare outfits ready packed in large freezer bags in your changing bag. Saves rootling around looking for stuff in a huge bag and also means that should something leak or spill in your bag the clean stuff won't get mucky. Freezer bag is also useful for putting the dirty stuff in.
If you have twins, measure the sodding buggy to make sure it fits through the bloody front door so you don't have to wake sleeping babies!

If you have a toddler and a small baby, don’t let the toddler stand at the wrong end while you’ve got the nappy off the baby. My baby sneezed and covered my poor toddler in poo 😮

    would've . . . could've . . . should've . . .
