  • Hello

    You're doing really well.

I make a rough meal plan for us each week but sometimes we just don't fancy anything that's been planned or we just don't feel like eating a lot so don't feel too bad about it. We always end up using what we intended to have at some point anyway.

And a suitable young lady (or sugar mummy) will enter your life when you least expect it and probably in the most unlikely place.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.
  • Good progress being made :)

you should feel guilty about your splurge, it was a ‘want’ not a need! But well saved by offsetting the misdemeanour with your weekly shop budget haha.

i’m really routing for you on the dating front, I mean if you don’t get that sugarmummy you could always settle for a bankruptee, they’ll be more than accommodating to your journey 😁

sorry, my humour has ran away with me tonight, back to the red wine.
If you believe you can, you will. If you believe you can't, you won't.

    Secured/Unsecured loans x 1
    Credit Cards x 8 (total limit £55,050)
Creation FS Retail Account x 1
    Creation Credit Sale 0% x 1 = £112.50pm x 20 mths
    0% Overdraft x 1 (£0 / £250)
    Mortgage Outstanding - £137,707.00 (Payment 13/360)
    Total Debt = £7,400 (0%APR) @ £100pm - Stoozing

You're right, a bankruptee would be more understanding  :D

I've had my free Hello Fresh box delivered today and I didn't realise it was 5 days of meals for 2, so there is SO MUCH FOOD!  I've worked out what I'm eating on what days and worked out left overs for lunch etc, the meal with the least perishables I have unpacked and put everything in the cupboards because I just won't make it.  But now I have plenty of store cupboard staples for future use, and I don't mind "wasting" some fresh coriander. Now I've had my freebie I need to go and cancel any further boxes before I forget!

Woken up with a bit of a headache today and no paracetamol in the house, so need to add that to the shopping list.  Very little shopping needed today due to box delivery, just a few bathroom bits. My razor is as blunt as anything and I've been going with the stubbly cool look this week because I couldn't be bothered to go to a shop mid week!!! So after my little indiscretion with snacks at the garage I have £55 for my food shopping and "entertainment" this weekend.  I've just ordered some protein powder as I'd all but run out, which was £17.63, leaving me £37.37.  Priced up the bits needed at £11.02.  Leaving £26.35... which I MIGHT use to buy myself an iron...This would normally come out of the household budget of which I have £18.28 left in for the month, but I guess it doesn't make a difference as come Friday (pay day) I will sweep any left overs into my EF anyway??  I've managed to get away with just hanging my shirts and wearing a jumper, but the site I'm working at at the moment is so hot and I've not been able to take my jumper off! :D I've WFH and worn a jumper since splitting up with my wife, and she did all the ironing so this is going to be a learning curve for me for sure!!  I supposed I'm going to need an ironing board too??  Guess I will be using that household fund after all  :D

That’s a lot of food to give for free, obviously hoping people will forget you cancel. I have a friend who only irons the collar of her Uniform shirt as wears jumper during the winter she hates when summer comes and has to iron full shirt 🤣🤣. Enjoy your weekend with your kids.
  • Morning! @Parkyp no kids this weekend, they're with their mum this weekend.
I didn't end up going shopping yesterday, found some ibuprofen in my bedside drawer so took them and had a nap.  Woke up fuzzy at 13.30 but headed out to my mates house as I promised I'd help him paint ready to sell his house following his recent break up as well.  He's my support bubble so no rules broken here!  We ended up having a great afternoon and I didn't leave there until 20.00, kept my fed with tea and pringles and out of money spending danger.  The place looks great considering us two don't have an ounce of style between us, always left that to the women...haha  I did promise myself I'd cook one of the Hello Fresh meals but I was so knackered by the time I got home I just had peanut butter on toast :frowning:

So this morning I treated myself to a lie in, I actually didn't wake up until 6.30 which is so late for me, I'm in the 4.30/5am club (unless I've had a few beers!!!)  :s I'm wearing glasses instead of contacts today as I have an eye test later, and they're making me feel a bit drunk if I'm honest...I NEVER wear my glasses, wife hated them so got used to just wearing lenses all the time.  I've been to Aldi for the few bits I need, mainly bathroom stuff and razors!! So I'll be getting rid of this beard a bit later.  Shopping came in at £11.59, picked up Bananas and Distilled white vinegar too so happy with this!  The vinegar is to try and get some deodorant marks out of shirts, I googled it and that's what it said.  Again, the wife used to just know all this stuff so google is my friend right now!!! If the vinegar trick works I've also bought myself the above mentioned iron to give that a go too, £12.99 in B&M.  Wish me luck!

With booking my own eye test and the vinegar/iron thing I feel like I'm being a real adult today.  Never had to do these things for myself so it's all new.  I guess that sounds pretty pathetic at 36 with two kids haha

Anyway so I am now left with £33.57 to cover my eye test and anything else this week, which should be OK.  I also have £50 budgeted for next weekend with the boys, so I don't think I'll be putting anything else into my EF this month.

The rest of the day looks like this:
    Put dry clean washing away
    Clean bathrooms
Work out (a few twinges from ankle earlier so no run, but will walk to opticians appointment later which is a mile each way)
Attempt to iron the one non-stained shirt and a pair of trousers
Wash shirts currently soaking in white vinegar, hope they don't smell like a chip shop
Wash up when sink is empty
    Opticians appointment
Prep snacks for the week for work

Plenty to be getting on with, but I'll give myself another half hour on here to catch up with some diaries first!

That should pay foryour eye test but nowhere near enought if you need a new prescription. Good luck.
  • It’s amazing what you can do when you have to. Yesterday I learnt  to tile a section of a wall - something I’d never had to do before separation, but a great sense of achievement when it was done!

Well done on all your budgeting. Must google Hello Fresh, is it some sort of grocery/ meal plan type thing?

My prescription hasn't changed, but they've recommended I have a contact lens check.  Although I'm not sure how my vision with contacts could have gotten worse if my vision with glasses hasn't? Anyway, my eyes are healthy and that's the main thing. I'll book a contact lens check online and get totally up to date.  I also forgot to take the form with me for them to fill out so I can claim the money back from work and so will have to do that next time I go in.  £25 better in my bank account

Hello Fresh is a meal box delivery thing, I would normally NEVER do anything like that, even in my less frugal days but my friend gave me a free code for one box, which is 10 meals! This box actually would have cost about £45, which is extortionate!  I have the recipe cards though so I can buy the ingredients again and make them myself.

The shirts aren't dry yet but the stains look like they're completely gone! :scream: I'm so impressed with myself! I also ironed the shirt and trousers and feel massively accomplished!  Didn't achieve everything on my list though, walked to my eye test and my ankle flared up again. I might actually need to see someone about it, it's been a long time.  Haven't entirely cleaned the bathrooms and haven't at all worked out
