I think most people call it zero based budgeting and I use it and find it's been great at stopping me overspending.
Glad you had a good time with the kids and they got some fresh air. They will adapt, kids always do, just need to try and keep things civil if you can between you and the ex for their sakes.*Dad loan - £5300 - £7200

@Sarahwithlove 100% agreed.
@MrDFby40 haha yeah you’re probably right there mate and £100 for petrol FML can’t fill my tank for that. 😆
Seriously mate, you’re doing well, will be sorted in no time. Then you just need to get that marital house sold and back on the ladder.0 -
Hi guys
@alt80 - just caught up on your diary, you sound like you're in a good place todayI do need to get myself back on the ladder. We fixed the mortgage on the house though and if we sell it now there is a £13k early redemption fee! I'm also keen to not move the boys just yet unless we absolutely have to, and if that means renting for a few years then so be it.
@Sarahwithlove - my ex and are are civil, too civil, we don't really have anything to say to each other any more. It just kind of fizzled out, which was really sad but also a bit soul destroying knowing that actually we just both gave up trying with each other. Better that than something happening to make us hate each other though I guess.
I'll be honest I'm feeling a bit flat tonight. Talked to my mate in the car on the way home from work and didn't feel like I had a lot to say to him. Didn't feel like cooking dinner so had peanut butter on toast and have sat in front of the TV and just been on here. I guess it's just a comedown from a good weekend. I'm depressing myself now so I'm going to sign off and go read or something!!!Next directory: £330.78 - 23.9% Paid 10/02/2021

Yeah I’m in an ok place mate thanks. £13k that’s !!!!!! high mate, your timescale makes more sense now. Worth exploring the exMrs buying you out if she wants to stay there assuming she does as she’s living there.
Comedown from a good weekend haha been there many times ha. You’ll be ok by Wednesday mate.
Ha wish things were quieter between my Mrs and I sometimes mate guess that’s a warning of don’t wish for what you don’t have.1 -
Hi all
Been quite absent lately as I've not had a lot going on, I'm in that lull that I read about on here quite a lot. Where all the payments etc have gone out and there is no activity for a bit. I have spent some money today, I spent £7.99 on amazon on some earphones with a mic for my laptop.
I still have the following in my pots:
£75 entertainment - £25 for me this weekend (probably won't spend this) and £50 for the following weekend with my boys
£20.78 in my "Emergency/presents/medical/holiday/household/clothes" pot
£40 in my groceries pot.
I have booked an eye test for Sunday 21st so need to look at the forms for claiming this back through work. Don't have any other spends planned. I plan to run this weekend as I can't get out during the week. My ankle is mostly fixed so am looking forward to getting back out there injury free!

Hi, I’ve started reading your diary. Sounds like your going to smash this by the time your 40. Your doing really well.0

Good to hear from you @MrDFby40 I hear you on the lull front, I haven't posted on my diary for ages as it just seems pointless now that my debt is gone. I actually really miss the excitement of a payday update and seeing the numbers come down.
Love that you now have the EF on your list in your signature, every little helps.

So I did end up spending yesterday after all. I had the old 3pm food craving and ended up going to the garage next door, but also getting something for my mate as well and before I knew it, I'd spent £9.94! So I took it out of my groceries pot for this week. I'll be going food shopping tomorrow and it will be under £30 for sure as it's just me again this next week, so I can afford this "splurge"funny that I now consider £9.94 to be a splurge!!
So I had the last lot of expenses paid into my account this morning so have paid this straight off the Tesco card that I put them on on the first place, I will update signature accordingly. I have also put a few more spare ££ into my EF so will update that. Got my wage slip today and it was about £20 less than I had estimated so have slightly less to pay off the Tesco card this month, but it's still looking like £320 against a minimum payment of £143. So it's all progress. I'm just waiting for my Halifax CC statement (which should come in today) so I can update my sheets with the interest amount.
I took a walk over to Greggs with my boss for lunch, even though I brought my lunch with me I really didn't fancy what I had made, so I had accepted the fact I was going to buy something but when we got there she paid for my lunch for me! Which was really lovely and unexpected. Totally unnecessary calories though. I have committed to myself that I will get back into working out tomorrow morning. I'm hoping to run as long as my ankle is still ok but have had the odd twinge today
I'm also looking forward to receiving my free Hello Fresh box tomorrow, which has 3 meals for 2 in (so a weeks meals for me!). A friend who has these gave me a code to use. I need to write my food shopping list tomorrow after I've received it so I can buy the bare minimum other stuff. Due to my laziness with dinners this week I still have meals left that I intended on eating as well.
Still no signs of a sugarmummy here unfortunately! But I guess I'd need to join a different kind of dating app for that?!Next directory: £330.78 - 23.9% Paid 10/02/2021
