Limescale from hard water is white, and I think it would be hard to keep a black sink clean-looking in a hard water area.

They're also never really "black" in the same way your hob will be.
However, whilst stainless steel is my preferred sink material, as it is easy to clean... I would go black sink over white - which always look stained with tea/coffee etc., unless you are fastidious about scrubbing and bleaching the sink all the time2 -
I suppose the other thing to think about is eventually selling the house. If you go too far out on a limb, that may look very dated in a few years and/or put off some buyers. OTOH, if you are going to bother to redo the kitchen, you want something that pleases you. I guess it's a balance.

It’s much easier to get everything from one place, but I’ve actually quite enjoyed looking around - and I can’t believe how much cheaper it’s working out!1

You do realise that it's undermount, don't you?

I have replaced one of the taps with a Bristan Easyfit. I really strongly recommend that. It comes in two parts, so that you can really easily replace the main part in about 5 minutes.2 -
Good additional points above.I never thought about the visibility of hard water on black! And, yes, anthracite is a popular colour for most so-called 'black' sinks, but I understand you can get true black too. Tbh, unless the sink is adjacent to the hob, anthr will be fine as a 'black'.This is a low-use item for you, curtains, so it'll stay looking pristine for many years. Mine is around 15 years old and gets a battering. I can feel the main bowl bottom is a bit 'rough' almost a gravelly feel, but the drainer and rim - the visible bits - clean up like new.Tap? Go for a good brand. I know - Franke! SS would look good if it matches your oven, or 'satin' looks better imo. You can even get matching black (or anthr), or even - looks great - a black tap body with a chrome spout. There are other good makes too :-)1

As you say, surprisingly cheap:or(I'm not suggesting these sellers, they are there just as an idea of what's available.)
