Whenever I see a thread title with
    [noun] [adjective] my [noun]
    I'm reminded of
    Freddy Star Ate My Hamster
    Every.  Time.
  • Probably wasn't the snow, they will have most likely been stuck fast with ice.

Did you ever consider not replacing the hamster, or not inviting him round?

That was the trouble with Freddie Starr --  same routine for 40 years

On topic, for the avoidance of snow-shaming, just to add that my wipers were defeated by high-drag aftermarket blade rubbers, not snow.
  • Do those electric leaf blowers work for getting snow off the car?

Probably not as the snow is often too dense. Hot water is good for freeing up frozen locks.
Cool water can be used to free wipers but too warm and you risk cracking the glass.

I've used tap-hot water for YEARS to defrost glass. I've never once had a problem - even when I've had screens with cracks or bullseyes, they've not got worse.

Not only does it defrost, it warms the glass, so demists.

Indeed. I too have used that method for many decades on myriad cars. No probs whatsoever.

I always keep an empty plastic 4-pint milk bottle handy in winter. Fill it with hot water (that’s at a temperature you could comfortably wash your hands in) and depending on severity the 4-pinter is usually enough to clear my windows all round with a bit left over if the lights need de-icing as well.

It’s a task that’s generally completed in very short order;...assuming one has unfettered access to a ready supply of hot water of course.
