My husband got a call from our gp surgery an hour ago to ask if he wanted his jab as they had a cancellation, he jumped at the chance and was down there like a shot, it's only 150 metres down the road. So I had mine this morning and he had his this afternoon and we both have our 2nd one on 8th May. Can't fault the efficiency.0

Part of the issue is that there is no 100% sure fire way of being able to contact some people.
Sometimes due to poor/incomplete record keeping, sometimes due to people not updating their contact information0 -
I’m priority 7 and being done tomorrow yet my friend who lives about 2 miles away is group 6 and hasn’t been called yet.MarkN88 said:literally just had them on the telephone booking me in, I get my vaccine on Monday and second dose on 10th May.I’m in group 6, and thought they hadn’t reached that group yet, she said on the phone that they are quite far ahead in this area, so goes to show how each area can be different.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Yeah. It varies quite a bit even if close by too. My Nan is group 5 and lives 6 miles away and she’s heard nothing yet.soolin said:

Different areas must be using different methods of booking in. OH and I have now both had our first one, but haven't been given a date for the second one, unlike some posters above. Told we would be contacted in due course.Used to be Bogof_Babe. It did need updating!0

Yesterday, I had a call from my GP practice to say I have an appointment at the place they are doing the vaccines on Thursday as they brought me forward as bordering on group 6/no group with asthma.
Would I get a text or letter nearer the time. If nothing turns up, I am taking ID with me - driving license and repeat prescriptions list0 -
My parents had first vaccine 1st week Feb at hospital. They were automatically given a date for mid April on booking on first vaccine0

Yes, there are 2 systems running in parallel. GP bookings mean the GP surgery will book you in for your second vaccine and self bookings via the NHS book a vaccine website, where you can book both appointments.Bogof_OAP said:Different areas must be using different methods of booking in. Having had your first vaccine, if you had Oxford AZ you can book yourself in for your second using the NHS website. Allow 48 hours for the system to update with the details of your first vaccine and the system will allocate you an appointment at the appropriate time. If you had PFizer or Moderna you need to wait for your surgery to contact you.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Bear in mind that the above only applies to England & NI. In both Scotland and Wales you will be contacted, as for the first dose, with an appointment for your second dose.silvercar said:

If nothing turns up, I am taking ID with me - driving license and repeat prescriptions listI would definitely take ID with you in any case as when I had my first dose the other day at the Elland Road vaccination centre in Leeds I only took my letter and my phone with the booking confirmation, which I thought would be enough, but it wasn't. They asked me if I had my bank card so perhaps take that. I hadn't, so had to wait in another line to get my identity verified.I was given the date for my second dose when I booked online.
