The problem is that the more you "pester" the surgery/whoever about where you are/when you are, the more it diverts resources from actually sorting appointments out.

Just be patient - everyone WILL get theirs -- eventually

Husband finally got to speak to someone at the surgery early this morning, and was again fobbed off with "it will happen", despite him saying that he's nearly 75, diabetic, and knows of 70-year-olds in good health who have had theirs.  Anyway mid-morning had a call back, offering him tomorrow evening at the nearest centre to where we live, so he can walk there.  I'm pretty sure his records had been overlooked, and his phone call thankfully prompted someone to investigate.

They have just announced that anyone over 70 who has not been contacted for a vaccination in England should book online or call 119/your GP for an appointment

I guess that's tantamount to an admission that they may have missed some people.

I think contacting your GP was at the end of the list - if all else fails

Over-70s can book their appointments using the website www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccination or those unable to get online can call 119.

If a suitable and convenient slot is not available people can also call their GP practice.

There is the risk that some people have not kept their contact details up to date with their GP surgeries, indeed there may be some people who are registered with a GP near an old address, or even no longer have a GP.

In our case, his surgery closed down, along with half a dozen others in the area, and they all relocated to a new massive health centre.  I wouldn't be surprised if some records got lost or mislaid during the upheaval.  He had to chase up his diabetes review a while back as that hadn't happened either.

They have been reasonably honest that they will miss some people. Not everyone is registered with a GP, some who are have not kept their address up to date, others the government will have no address for at all, not on electoral rolls etc. so it is going to be impossible to contact everyone, this is why there are going to be calls for people to contact their GP/register etc. at various points, probably every few groups going forward.

I think that the percentage numbers being vaccinated will reduce and those falling through the cracks will increase with each reduction in age group, for a number of sociological reasons.

I was astonished at the stated success rates today at the briefing in excess of 90% to date - that must be about as high as could be practicably possible.

Or that there's reluctance among some previously to attend despite being invited. Not least among certain sections of the community where take up has been low.  Never going to be a 100% response. At least in the UK people are generally receptive.
