Different areas must be using different methods of booking in.  OH and I have now both had our first one, but haven't been given a date for the second one, unlike some posters above.  Told we would be contacted in due course.
Yes, there are 2 systems running in parallel. GP bookings mean the GP surgery will book you in for your second vaccine and self bookings via the NHS book a vaccine website, where you can book both appointments.
Having had your first vaccine, if you had Oxford AZ you can book yourself in for your second using the NHS website. Allow 48 hours for the system to update with the details of your first vaccine and the system will allocate you an appointment at the appropriate time. If you had PFizer or Moderna you need to wait for your surgery to contact you.
There's more than 2 systems running. In Nottinghamshire we use the Swiftqueue booking system which will automatically book 2 appointment dates regardless of which vaccine is being offered.

I got an email on Thursday from the NHS telling me that following a review of evidence my status had changed and that I was now in the Clinically Extremely Group and not to go to work until 31/03/21 and tell my employer.
This is no change for me as I have been working from home since 18/03/20 !.
I did forward the email to my manager though.
Lets now wait for my vaccine invite.

I'm in the exact same position too @antonic - got the letter by email, waiting for the vaccine invite.  I'm in Lancashire and it looks like here I would qualify to apply on-line for one anyway now, as I'm in receipt of Carer's Allowance for someone else who is CEV.  But I suspect that would send me to a MVC which would be hard to reach and has difficult parking, where if the GP invites me, it would be done at a local centre with free parking outside the door.  So I'm going to wait a few days and see if I hear.
  • I’m in south Scotland and got a blue envelope invite a couple of days ago - letter states an appointment on March 1st at local leisure centre and if I can’t make it to go online and reschedule. However I’m in my 30s and not CV...will I be grilled when I go along for the jab? I do feel that the more people vaccinated the better, but was not expecting it so soon! I’m in a rural area so it could be that they’re racing through all the groups quicker than the cities.

You've got the invite so make the most of it and get the jab  :-)
Don't assume though that it's because your area is vaccinating more quickly than other areas.

I'm also in rural south Scotland. Early sixties, so group 7, or possibly group 6 as I'm an unpaid carer. I'm still waiting for mine, looking forward to it as I'm having to be so careful as looking after my mother. She's 86 and got her first jab just over 2 weeks ago. I know quite a few people in their early 60s, some with health problems, who are still waiting.
Dumfries and Galloway health board stated a week ago that they were just starting to vaccinate groups 6 and 7, so nowhere near those in their thirties.

I think you've just been very lucky! Doubt very much that you'll be grilled, the vaccinator won't know why people are attending.

I'd phone the helpline number on the letter and ask about it. Personally I wouldn't feel too comfortable about getting the jag ahead of people in at more risk groups, but it's your choice. They may not ask on the day as long as you have your letter confirming your appointment.

People have been invited early by mistake, though none as funny as the guy who's GP had recorded his height incorrectly giving him a massive BMI so was classed as clinically obese!  :D
  • If you have your letter, just go and get it done. It's not like your abusing the system - you have been invited.

A journalist asked this question on the Scottish government questions today. The answer was they are aware of some cases in Glasgow and Ayrshire (no mention of D&G) and they are looking into it, and if you don't feel you qualify yet you should phone the vaccine helpline.

  • FYI - the national vaccine booking system is now allowing 64 year olds to book - was 65 year olds before. Does mean going to a mass vac centre.....
