There is the risk that some people have not kept their contact details up to date with their GP surgeries, indeed there may be some people who are registered with a GP near an old address, or even no longer have a GP.Bogof_OAP said:
I guess that's tantamount to an admission that they may have missed some people.gt94sss2 said:They have just announced that anyone over 70 who has not been contacted for a vaccination in England should book online or call 119/your GP for an appointmentMattMattMattUK said:
They have been reasonably honest that they will miss some people. Not everyone is registered with a GP, some who are have not kept their address up to date, others the government will have no address for at all, not on electoral rolls etc. so it is going to be impossible to contact everyone, this is why there are going to be calls for people to contact their GP/register etc. at various points, probably every few groups going forward.Bogof_OAP said:

Seems to be a refusal to accept the fact that some people were simply forgotten through no fault of their own.Thrugelmir said:
Or that there's reluctance among some previously to attend despite being invited. Not least among certain sections of the community where take up has been low. Never going to be a 100% response. At least in the UK people are generally receptive.Bogof_OAP said:

I think the suggestions were perfectly reasonable but I expect that some people will be missed or forgotten. It's not exactly an easy exercise to vaccinate 60m people at pace without a mass of time to prepare. If it means that at various points they encourage people to get in contact if they think they're due an appointment then that's fine.NaughtiusMaximus said:Seems to be a refusal to accept the fact that some people were simply forgotten through no fault of their own.
I think all have done a very good job on vaccinations from development teams, those on frontline giving injections, volunteers helping and even the Government on this point (i.e. not Covid in general). Lets just support the rollout personally.5 -
Any suggestion that things could be improved/done slightly differently apparently turns you into a naysayer who is unsupportive of the huge efforts being made.NaughtiusMaximus said:silvercar said:

I also think that when there are the inevitable hiccups along the way, pointing them out in the hope that things can be tweaked to avoid future similar issues, is a reasonable thing to do and does not mean you are not appreciative of the efforts being made. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

I think there is a difference between spotting an opportunity to be fixed which could have a significant impact on the process (not just for the individual), in which case contacting the appropriate people with an improvement suggestion sounds good.elsien said:

To what reads as negative that those trying to implement haven't picked up every contact, in which case patience and following procedure (now being go on website, contact 119) will be better than posting on forums which can spread concern or clogging NHS phones with complaints, updates on when they'll be seen etc which have a negative impact to the roll out.3 -
People coming on to ask for advice and to see if there are others in the same situation and whether/how they managed to resolve it is the point of a forum, whether other people consider it negative or not.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

As an example of your point. I had a concern that, having had my first vaccine as a result of being a vaccine centre volunteer, I couldn't book online my second vaccine date. having had rather vague answers as to how this will be resolved, today I was given a generic looking link to book my second vaccine on the NHS booking website. So for anyone else who had the first vaccine via a non medical or age criteria, or even was lucky enough to be given a spare at the end of a day, I would first try to see if you can now book yourself online.elsien said:People coming on to ask for advice and to see if there are others in the same situation and whether/how they managed to resolve it is the point of a forum, whether other people consider it negative or not.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I'm 68 years and received a text to book appointment...really easy to do and less than a mile from home.
Really impressed0 -
I get a local newsletter and each week it gives a link to Health Board and where they are up to age wise with jabs, gives a direct number to book if that age group is nearly finished and you have missed being contacted. So not up to my group yet but in case I get missed I know what do to....so impressed with the whole set up1

literally just had them on the telephone booking me in, I get my vaccine on Monday and second dose on 10th May.I’m in group 6, and thought they hadn’t reached that group yet, she said on the phone that they are quite far ahead in this area, so goes to show how each area can be different.0
