The NC500 sounds marvellous, go for it! embrace the wildness.
M-i-L is probably terrified this may be the last holiday she will ever go on, after the year we have had.  It does not excuse her behaviour, but you never know, she might behave herself, and it will give her something to look forward to (even though you will dread it).
Sorry, that is the most positive I can be on the subject.   I think you might need 'last-minute surprise holidays' for a little while.

Just huge, and she has spent the last 48 years training MrP to pander to it! She's one of those women that is very good at getting others to pay for big things and then makes a big song and dance out of it if she pays for small bits.

You sound way too nice! Hopefully she appreciates it all! I tend to do the same. I book caravan holidays then every man and his dog tags along and I’ve paid £500+ for a big family holiday and nobody gives me £1. It’s not as extravagant as holidays abroad lol simply because I don’t have the means 😂
Yes, but no matter how much it costs they should still contribute. You also sound way to nice, maybe you should book a smaller caravan?

I've been reading your diary f0xh0les and think MIL has aspects of your Irish relative. I actually don't mind her coming with us for some of it that much as she can be good company but then she can also be a complete cow, it just depends. I'm deliberately looking at holidays which just wouldn't work for her in the future.

So I've made the big overpayments and now its the long slog to the next payday. I've fine tuned the budget to such an extent that I'm unlikely to find many extra payments, that said I had £29 extra that I hadn't budgeted yet and I was waiting for PA to pay out so I would have more than £32 to pay £8 each into the pots but I did find a few extra pounds so now I'm on £37 waiting for PA to pay out so I can pay £10 each into the pots.
In other good news MrP claimed the uniform allowance as he has logo'd shirts and he got a cheque for £134. He's said I can use it towards MIL plane ticket but in a generous mood I've said he can put it in personal spends as he uses very little of his salary towards things for himself.

Oh I'm such an easily pleased little cat. I picked up another PA survey for a whole 13p but it paid out almost instantly and put me over the magic £5, so that was into the bank and I've just paid out £10,50 into each of my four pots, holidays, immediate savings, long term savings and mortgage. That's my excitement for the day I guess.

You could have said half towards MIL's ticket & half to your DH's personal spends!

    Have a good weekend   :)

MrP had his eye on a camera lens on the bay site but its already on far more than he's prepared to pay so his tax rebate might just end up in my sticky little paws to allocate as I want.
We went to the garden centre to get some more small seeding pots and bark this morning and really had to hunt for the pots, silly us expecting to find things for actually growing plants in a garden centre  :) Spent £31 but its in the monthly budget so all good. We also saw some garden furniture that we'd like, we've been looking for ages as we don't want wood (we've had four wooden sets and they just don't last while we have a plastic table that must be nearly thirty years old and its still perfectly functional) What we've seen is aluminium so not as heavy as the wrought iron stuff and more modern looking. I've gone onto the website though and they don't sell direct so we'll have to go up to the garden place again and order.  We have a YNAB pot for this.
Yesterday was a low spend grocery shop, just over fifty quid with everything for the week and three bottles of wine. Can't complain.
