    1- deny all debt
    2- seeking legal advice
3- ask for what legal grounds there are working on to add unknown amounts to the fine.

is there anything other than the 3 above points which anyone sees value in adding?
It is not a fine, it is a speculative invoice at best!  Refer to it as a PCN.

Please Find below a copy of your Response Form.

DCB Legal note that you have advised that their was no yellow lines where you were parked, The terms and conditions on the signs stated that parking was permitted for vehicles parked wholly within a marked bay. DCB Legal also note that you would like to understand as to what legal authority we are operating on to add amounts to the original PCN. Please note In accordance with the British Parking Association (BPA) Code of Practice, where the Parking Charge Notice (PCN) becomes overdue and before Court proceedings have commenced, a reasonable sum may be added for the debt recovery fees. The correct recovery fees have been added and will not be removed. As such, the outstanding balance of £320.00 remains payable to prevent further action.

Not a legal authority, merely a Code of Practice that any company or organisation can write!
  • Hi, I got a letter today from dcbl on behalf of civil enforcement ltd for an unpaid parking fine, the thing is this is the first I've seen of any parking violation, no tickets issued to me although I was in the car park on the date quoted. It is a notice of debt recovery and states a charge of £170 which is a tad excessive! I am minded to ignore it for now but I am unsure if it's even genuine, how can I check?

    It's genuine. But disingenuous.

Read the DCB Letters Group thread.

PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
