I'm not a generous as some of my fellow posters & don't believe for a second that you were always going to pay the difference.
If you were why bother to post in the first place? then as seen above in Pollcat's quote you ask if you have to. Later on, you argue the toss that you paid the 3000, not in pounds though as you say that you spent some of the money that should have been paid to them.
You've had so many people telling you to pay that you've realised that you will have to pay and are now claiming that you always intended to, yeah I'm not buying that.2 -
Still good to get input. Firstly, I didn’t chose to pay in the Albanian Currency, “ALL”, that’s was was requested of me, by the jeweller. As I’m sure you saw, in the payment slip it says, “ALL 3041.00”. Just looks like “all” the cost is paid. But that’s already been addressed.Spank said:I'm not a generous as some of my fellow posters & don't believe for a second that you were always going to pay the difference.

It was just to get the consumers legal standpoint. Do I rush to bow down or drag it out. Contractually, the sale is over at the point of collection and the receipt, stating the correct amount, in GBP, handed over. I and they, we’re non the wiser. Even got my airport points.
Not sure what many on here are smoking, but a lot seem to be morally high. Not many examples to describe my point, but - If you were doing 45mph in a 30mph zone, by of course accident and were not aware, but the camera didn’t flash, and you received no fine, would you go tell the police...? Hmm
Police then they chase you up, after a
month, by which point it’s too late to enforce. And you’d most likely fight it.Different situ, entirely, but where are your morals then...1 -
Blame a badly designed website (for the payment processing) -- a pre-populated box for "Currency?" starting with "ALL" (Albanian) and passing through "GBP" on the way to "ZLO"theonlywayisup said:. am not sure of the Albania reference.
Websites like these invite trouble, in the same way as "Put in your postcode, then select your house from the drop down". These *should* be pre-populated with "---" or "Didn't bother to do this!" ... but no, usually pre-filled with "No 2 Thingy Avenue" ot "No 1 Thingy Avenue" depending on which side of the road. Leading to items turning up at that (incorrect) address, home shopping deliveries, all sorts.
The original receipt says "ALL", which you could think means "Paid In Full". But I suspect you know it didn't work out like that, from your bank/PayPal/other balance not dropping by the expected £3k.1 -
That analogy doesn't work because no-one has suffered a loss as a result of your accidental speeding. Had you damaged another car or property you would be legally obliged to tell your insurer. Had you knocked someone over and they'd been injured or killed, you would be legally obliged to tell the police.UkAdviceRequired said:

In your situation, the retailer has suffered a loss as a result of their mistake, and no, the contract isn't over because they have the opportunity to reverse it for what was an obvious mistake.
It's a bit rich to question the hypothetical morals of other posters when your actual morals have shown to be in question in your situation.5 -
Re: the latter to your point. I didn’t think to check. What worse than checking your account knowing it would say £0. Ha. Increased usage of phone whilst away on hol in December is what had eaten into what would have/should have been paid out. A charge that would have just bounced back if the jeweller had charged correctly at the time.mikb said:

I often wonder how many websites think they have a surprisingly highly proportion of customers from Afghanistan, because nobody can be bothered scrolling to the other countries.mikb said:

And then you'd be on here asking how you can get out of the massive phone bill you managed to rack up on holiday I imagine.UkAdviceRequired said:

So when you were spending the money did you think that you were putting yourself in debt? In your first post, you say "I have since spent some of the funds, and do not have what they need."UkAdviceRequired said:

Just to clarify. You weren't under charged. You under paid. The sale was agreed before you underpaid an amount you were aware of, and had agreed to, no matter what the link asked you to pay.
And not having enough money left to settle because you were on holiday. In December. During a lockdown. Its not going to get better here is it...
