First grocery shop for the month £60.67 should last us a week
MMFebruary 2021 GC £301.45 / £300.00
March 2021 GC £266.41 / £280.00
April 2021 GC £53.19 / £300.004 -
£246.50 from my annual budget of £3000 but this includes £62.50/£400 stores and £183.90 out of the £200 I average per month, Quite high for us on what is normally a low-spend month.
- This is the first January since I started having milk delivered - much more expensive but my thing is over-buying when I am in the SM so it keeps me away.
- Buying fruit and veg at the market is definitely a bit more expensive but it keeps us (well, DH) out of the SM for another week or so.
- The fishmonger was the biggest cost - I think it was £21.50 for two salmon fillets and a large piece of tuna but it is the first fresh fish we have bought all month (and the salmon fillets were lovely, if huge) - the tuna is for Monday or Tuesday and is in the freezer in the interim.

Finished January with an overspend of £94, but this was due to two big bulk buys that came out the one budget, I'm starting to keep a bulk fund separate and will see how we do on that. Mr Porridge is still in charge of actual shopping which I find difficult (mainly because I like to be in control) as he can be very lax about actual amounts and what cash he still has etc. We shouldn't need much beyond, milk, cheese and fruit and vegetables for a few weeks as we have a freezer full of meat, we've got plenty of cat food and cleaning stuff. I've got a new sourdough starter going so hope to use that more for bread, pizzas, naan breads etc. I find this useful as Mr Porridge doesn't get on well with bought bread and making this expands the range of cheaper dinner options that we can have (something on toast night) I'm also trying to make sure we eat better and snack less as we're both wfh at least some of the time. Started today by making cheese scones using the leftover Christmas extra mature cheddar for brunch.Mortgage Free 23 December 2020

I'm in again for the month please.
(Part 2 of my year budget!) Came in £2.30 under for general food etc & didn't spend my bulk fund (£27.50) in Jan so the max available for Feb to keep me on track is...
£126+£2.30 = £128.30 for general food£30 + £27.5 = £57.50 bulk fundThis gives a rather ott amount of £186.80 for one person. Would be nice if I could manage to only spend the general food money and not need to break into the bulk fund but we'll see.Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

Good evening all
@elsiepacI’ve rolled over the £2.30 we saved from last month, upping this month’s budget to £142.30. Apologies for the extra work.
First shops of the month to declare. We walked down to L!dl, YS bought YS. steak, YS fish pie mix, YS Herring, veg, and breakfast cereal. We had a voucher that gave us an additional 20% off for the fish, too. Half way home, I was arguing with DH about something on the receipt and realised we’d been double charged for the Herring. (The money off sticker was on the lid, while the pot had a bar code on the bottom.) Walked back to L!dl, explained what had happened and they refunded the shelf price (£1.99), letting us keep the 40p discount. £33.76 spent, including the refund.
The above shop brings our spend for February to £33.76/£142.30, leaving £108.54 for the rest of the month.

Morning and thanks @elsiepac for the new thread.
Please may you put me down for £300 this month.
I've increased the budget from last month as I'm spending between £50 and £60 a month on dog food so struggled to keep to the £240 previously set. Hoping I can do better in February. Order has already been placed for dog food so £50.14 already spent!
It's better to beg forgiveness than ask permission.5 -
Thanks @elsiepac
