Sorry to hear you are going through this ! It's just so stressful and disappointing when things like this happens. And it really doesn't help when EA and solicitors don't communicate , and hardly anyone tells you the correct information!!!katie91_2 said:Also in the same boat, although our offer was accepted 2 weeks earlier than yours! We’ve had 2 chains fall through and now hopefully getting somewhere close to exchange, but it’s never that straightforward.Last week the EA was sending us nasty e-mails daily saying our one outstanding enquiry with our vendors solicitor was holding up the whole chain who were ready to exchange and apparently the top of the chain issued and ultimatum saying if we don’t exchange by the end of this week they’ll pull out. Now we’re ready it turns out none of them actually are (including the one issuing the ultimatum!) and our vendor doesn’t want to complete until 19th Feb because apparently he needs 3 1/2 weeks to book removals. Fuming doesn’t even cover it!0 -
So we've now been told we just have to wait , the person at the top of the chain cannot break the chain either. They said hopefully all sorted next month but not feeling very confident about that. So frustrating as this has been going on since August!
We have to wait for the top persons searches etc to come back . Ours took AGES! so no doj t theirs will as well0 -
Can anyone tell me how quickly searches etc can come back? I know it depends on the local authority/ council etc but it seems we are now waiting for the top of the chain for their searches etc to come back. We've got a friend who has just sold their house 2 weeks ago and put it an offer on new house and searches have already come back! As you can imagine this is frustrating for us as we have been waiting what seems like FOREVER. I know nothing can be done about it but would just like to hear experiences of how quickly it CAN get done- just so i can get SOME hope0

If the top person in the chain are waiting for their searches, surely they are NOT top of the chain? Unless you are speaking about the first time buyers at the bottom of the chain?0 -
well when I refer to the top of the chain (they were the top of the chain until they decided 2 weeks ago to purchase a house when originally they were not) i'm sure not sure what is above them but from what i've been told the house they are buying is chain free, but that may be incorrect to be honestTiglet2 said:Km2020 said:Can anyone tell me how quickly searches etc can come back? This week it will be 7 weeks since our searches were requested with an eta of 18th February! They’re taking ages at the moment!Km2020 said:Can anyone tell me how quickly searches etc can come back? There is the local council (and depending on their workload/backlog determines the time) but I think there’s also search agents as an alternative. I don’t know how they all work. To be honest I don’t even know if our searches have been sent off or where we are in that process. The solicitors don’t say much.Km2020 said:Can anyone tell me how quickly searches etc can come back? Update- still waiting for the top of the chain (we were told their searches were due back last week ) noone has repsosned to me in a week.
Feel like it's getting beyond ridiculous. Our buyers want to move , no-one can break the chain .
I know it's a busy time but so fed up:(0 -
Just to give you a little bit of hope, I also had an offer accepted at the end of August and have only just exchanged this week (for completion next week). It was hugely stressful and frustrating but I eventually got to this point and I’m sure you will soon as well.Km2020 said:Update- still waiting for the top of the chain (we were told their searches were due back last week ) noone has repsosned to me in a week.
