Not at all... I used the chainsaw when I purchased it, at first I didn’t have a sharpening tool, so after use it quickly was blunt and I bought new chains, then it was months before use again.

Of course I read the instructions on safety and how to use but not on warranty.

The replacement guide bars from the manufacturer are almost the same price as the chainsaw.

The number of chains replaced is indicative of the quality of the product, not through heavy use.

I've asked Amazon if its possible to set-up the web-site so that when you click "Add to Basket" or "Buy Now" you can be assured that you are buying from Amazon and not a third party as now I am having issues with the Seller who I had no idea when purchasing is in Germany and so far has not responded.

To give you an idea my chainsaw was bought in March 2016 and is still on the original chain which is still working quite well (although I might change it this year).  It is used 3 times a year to cut back about 40M of coarse hedging and a couple of times a year to cut logs.  It cam from B&Q and was about £70 (I think).  To go through so many chains makes me think it is not as 'light' a usage as you think.
I don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!
  • Curious, did the OP change the chains because they became blunt ? Did he sharpen them?

Heavy use is not just defined by the number of times you use it but what you use it for and how you use it. Both the chain and guide are consumables.

As for Amazon's website not being clear where you are purchasing from - it is. Its just not as clear as you wanted it to be to fit your situation (unfortunately for you).
  • OP sorry if this was asked but when you say the guide bar failed what happened to it exactly?

    How are your chains breaking?

Do you find the saw pulls to the right or left giving a diagonal cut through the log?

  • Regrettably I would not call the usage as minor as 3 new chains and multiple sharpening is definitely not minor, unless they were cheap chains.

See screenshot on page 1 of this thread - Amazon couldn't make it any clearer! The seller is shown directly under the Add to Basket and Buy It Now buttons for every single item. The seller is also "clickable" so that you can look at information about them which includes country location and buyer ratings as just two items of information about them.
