Why does Microsoft need to cleen up what did it do that it needed to clean?
Temporary files will be created as part of the updating process (imagine an archive of updates downloaded in one file, these will be unpacked - which unless 'cleaned up' later will just sit there taking space)
Boon surely it already did this  and did not need to clean temporary files which it cleaned by operating the following twice

Day 17 and 16 and 16,17  threads deleted from this forum Martin Lewis has been contacted as this site looks fraudulant and does not adhear to the basic principles of a forum operation to provide information to the public. Day Post 16  clearly showed a legal problem which has been hidden from the public by https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/

Why would they offer me something free I have already purchased !

  • Stop looking into google for the answers to your computer problems.

FYI Microsoft provides you with an operating system, that frequently requires updating to remain secure and safe. If you do not like this operating system, then install Linux and rely on others being able to provide you with the same level of security and updates. If you still do not want an operating system, then I suggest you give your pc to a schoolchild so they can at least learn at home!

As for Norton, I suppose you purchased a one PC license and have tried to install this on more that one PC. The licence will not allow this. My Adobe license does the same! If you want security, then use Windows Defender, that is probably better than Norton, and again is regularly updated. If you are using Sky or BT, these services provide, for a nominal charge, AV security software and also have parental and other filters to provide added protection. Of course if you read google too much, you could disable these!

There is more than a few , more than ten , more than fifty  and so on all about not providing updates. What the real reason is for this restart of my device without permission when they have been asked more than 50 times to DESIST.
How many times does it have to be stated before you will finally accept it.
THESE UPDATES ARE TAKING PLACE SO OFTEN BECAUSE THE UPDATE SETTINGS ON YOUR COMPUTER ALLOW FOR IT TO HAPPEN.
Microsoft can't and won't change they way that updates occur simply because one person doesn't understand how to configure their own computer.
You can stop updates from installing for a 5 week period but after this 5 weeks you need to install them and then you can pause the updates for another 5 week.

If you don't like Windows, don't understand how to use Windows or don't agree with how Microsoft operate, stop using their operating system and install Linux instead.

    To  solve the computer problems:
    1. Buy an Apple,
    2. Buy a Chromebook,
    3. Install Linux (as already suggested)
    4. Learn how to control updates (as already suggested)
To solve the Antivirus problems with Norton
    1. Uninstall and use Windows Defender (or something else it you prefer) as already suggested
The problem with this thread is that people try to help you and you show not the slightest inclination to either listen or accept anything said.

I just got logged back in I sent Norton various emails but have had no response . I am on day 22 without Norton and quite frankly they have done nothing :
    Email to them :

    Eugene Ouattara

    Norton Escalation Team,

Europe, Middle East, Africa and Latin America

    Free Chat Support: www.norton.com/chat

    Phone Support:  www.norton.com/phone

    Forum: http://community.norton.com

Thank you for your email this morning in relation to this difficulty enrolling a product purchased at a high street store and not covered by the terms-of-sale as you indicated which control estore  commerce only from the text written upon it  .

You will be aware I have asked NortonLifeLoc to come to terms in relation to several points of information harvesting. Which currently have not been currently addressed.

You may also be aware of my communication this morning sent to DPC and Norton in relation to the Live screen shots which were taken LIVE from your system early this morning and show your automatic renewal is still in place contrary to your communication this morning and kind offer.  The renewal system is not only still in place then collecting data but it is still not able to be dismissed without filling in personal data to enroll a purchased key  .

I am also quite aware this date is being collected shared by  MarkMonitor Inc and Norton LifeLoc  as a separate data processing department to Norton LifeLoc . I am also concerned that personal bank information is being provided over an open  URL to your  MarkMonitor Inc server and then transferred to Norton LifeLoc by a hidden process probably in SQL database . Clearly if the data you have  harvested at  MarkMonitor Inc is processed  and the personal data is removed from the Norton Lifeloc SQL server what back data process procedure is in place to remove that information from  MarkMonitor Inc data processing centre? As you are sharing personal data around the world to Mumbai chat services and collected according to those chat services in Dublin what personal data protection exists  and what ability to check accuracy of information exists in all of the location including MarkMonitor Inc which you provided here  https://www.nortonlifelock.com/gb/en/legal/

Clearly we are on day eighteen (18) of you not providing protection software with your software stating it has expired yet I have provided your team with a new licence twice in fact most recently your colleague Harish Ankadala stated " Thank you for the key, I have located the key.

    Dear Sir /Madam

As you can see below NortonLifeLoc, belevies updating its privacy policy online Friday in respect to
data it collects is now making it act in a grown up fashion  . It is quite clear that it collects data
through its email form "acsForm" run as a posted information through
    form name="acsForm"
    action="https://my.norton.com/Identity/Account/signin-norton" method="post">

     run by
MarkMonitor Inc and it is not clear how many users it has details of it
    keeps banking
objects : including bank cards ; security data; private addresses. It is also not clear
    how many
of NortonLifeLoc customers choose to follow NortonLifLoc advice and to place their
    Bank objects :
including bank cards ; security data; private addresses to have them sent to unknown
destinations for processing . Then only to be told if they remove them from the form that this will
delete the data, which seems wholly untrue. Clearly this mandate does not extend to its privacy
    policy newly published

https://www.nortonlifelock.com/gb/en/privacy/privacy-notices/ why then is it asking for this customer
Bank objects : including bank cards ; security data; private addresses   at enrolment of a retail purchase on
    their registration system
    https://my.norton.com/home/setup  or as published https://www.norton.com/setup ?
It is evident from the latter that this is no longer being kept on a secure server as the '
    https://'
    designation has clearly been removed:

This screen then changes if you login :

You are then asked upon entering a new number on the screen below

You are then asked to enter bank objects under Annual Subscription Renewal Authorization
    https://my.norton.com/extspa/onboard/setup#/aron/home/ar/bill?psn=V38GMFRT2GBF&isconsentrequired=true

Clearly this screen above and full representation in pdf print shows the extent of what norton is processing
    since enforcing these new screens any retail package user has to register  bank objects:   including bank cards ;
security data; private addresses.  Otherwise you cannot continue from this screen as you could before
    without this for ten years.

On a public forum 18 days have passed without Norton providing software protection for the licence
I purchased stating It cannot register this licence when NortonLifeLoc ( Mombai ) has been given access
to this licence twice without registering it .

Norton despite being asked to provide a separate mandate from the bank showing its can process
bank objects:   including bank cards ; security data; private addresses with the full authority of the bank
Norton LifeLoc (London ) ICO: | REG ZA161008 has for over a year not registered with the ICO to process data
Despite contacting NortonLifeLoc Privacy Policy team this had not been resolved and no entry can be found under
Nortons references. You can check the status of NortonLifeLoc  registration with the ICO for yourself here :
https://ico.org.uk/about-the-ico/what-we-do/register-of-fee-payers/ as of 11 January 2021 it had no
    registration according
to ICO and my inquiry today.

You have not provided from the DPC any Registration number showing NortonLifeLoc (Ireland)
https://core.cro.ie/e-commerce/company/395342   is processing data within the legal regulations  of the land
in five  days! Do I consider from this that it is processing data without registration?

Quite frankly I find it disgraceful that you would not provide this registration number and or process data without
a registration of bank objects:   including bank cards ; security data; private addresses  . I do not call stating
on its Privacy policy in respect to data it collects : "Additional information may be collected at the
discretion of the customer in order to maintain the account during the subscription to the product.
    processing
minimal data". When it is clear no mandate exists or has been provided for it to collect
bank objects:   including bank cards ; security data; private addresses  from either its Privacy Policy
or adherence to banking terms and conditions. Which are clearly only at Point of Sale which does not
occur in a retail environment when a 12 month licence  is purchased outright.

Why would I provide you personal information when you have not provided information to allow
me to understand that you are processing data securely under data processing acts of legislation
in a meaningful way which would be honest .

How much are you paying for this Legal Team?    If it's anything more than €0.01 you are not getting good value...
Is this latest screed a complaint to the Data Protection Commission about Norton?  The last para reads as if you are complaining that the DPC wants your personal information before they prove to you that they follow their own rules.

I do hope that's a dummy key in your screenshot!
I need to think of something new here...
