I'd say best going via US first. However do you need to clearance immigration first as the connection could be tight if so. Not sure myself, only ever connected on a return flight from US.

I’d aim for a 2 hour minimum connection on your first stop. The queue can be dreadfully slow and you have to pick up and drop off bags after immigration/security.

Bonus is, once you land in LAS it’s straight out and no more lines. Apart from taxi/ride share that is.

From the options you have I would take Atlanta but you may still struggle to  get through Immigration, collect and re-deposit baggage in 2 hours.
Worst we have had was just over 4 hours in Washington (but it was Easter Sunday) and the fastest by far was Detroit which was around 45 mins.
If you have a through ticket (rather than 2 separate ones) then they will just stick you on the next available flight which will be with them or a partner airline

  • Thank you for the replies. I'm thinking of going from Manchester to Amsterdam now, it has a 90 minute stopover then direct to Vegas. I believe Amsterdam is pretty good for processing people. As it would possibly be through Expedia, KLM are operating the flights. I guess I would need to go through security but won't need the bags processing hassle?

So post-COVID who are we renting cars from cheaply?

I'm travelling late August for 13 days and so far GotRentalCars are coming in way cheaper than everyone else, using Avis. (£450 vs £650) Anyone ever used them before, or should I fade them and go somewhere else?

If so, wheres best these days?

I’m looking for decent prices too. Last year they were insanely expensive.

We didn’t end up paying the extortionate price last October. £650 for a week was just too much!
  • Hello lovelies

ive been to vegas in 2012 stayed at cosmopolitan for 10 nights.

A group of friends are planning vegas next October for our 40th birthdays. It’s a mixed group. We want to experience the clubs, pools and I want to explore abit more of America.

I’ve seen they do day drips to California and wondered if anyone had every done it. I know taxi picks up at 6am and it’s roughly a 4-5hour drive.

also Is there anywhere in vegas worth visiting other than the strip? I’ve done the Grand Canyon and helicopter tour.

im also looking for rooms on the strip with two rooms. My partners friend is joining us and I don’t really want to share the same room. I thought it maybe cheaper getting a room upgrade than two separate rooms.

    Budgets looking at £1500 each

    any help would be appreciated

There’s a lot to see in Las Vegas and surrounding area if you rent a car.

    Valley of Fire
    Red Rock recreational area
    Spring Mountain Ranch
    The Old Mormon Fort
    Hoover Dam
    Mount Charleston
    The Neon Museum

Downtown, no need for a car.
    The Mob Museum
    Container Park
    Smith Centre
    Arts District.

Can’t help with the room situation, I’ve never really looked into two bedroom suites, but it would probably be cheaper to get two standard rooms then go for a suite.

We have stayed in what was Elara, now Hilton Grand Vacations club Elara and it was brilliant, it is connected to Planet Hollywood but does not have its own casino, unless its changed there are two entrances, one in Planet Hollywood and one direct from the PH Carpark but in the corner so you can normally get a slot by the door as everyone else wants to be in the centre for the main PH entrance.
We had a 1 bedroom king grand suite with full kitchen, living room that had a convertible double bed and a bedroom with jacuzzi bath that "could" fit 4. and very large Jack & Jill Bathroom. It was far cheaper than two rooms when we took my adult daughter.
There are two bedroom suites as well.
    We loved the place

as pebbles said, get 2 rooms..
I've had 2bed suites in Luxor & Mandalay Bay, and although comp'd, the value of the rooms for per night is pretty dam high!!!
If wanting to visit anywhere, just hire a car via any UK broker (so u got full insurance, no 10 billion pound excess, blah blah :)  )

As for car rental, luck of the draw at the mo...
I get a discount with Hertz, but booked the V4 group (muscle car), paid £305 last month for the week..
Muppets had no challenger/stang/camero (V8 engine) in the lot, but they had the Shelby mustangs, so i kindly pointed out i'm not new to renting in Vegas.... i'll take it without paying a penny as its an upgrade car (i said, its got a V8 engine, i booked a V8 engine, done deal!)
    We got this:

Although a nice sweet ride, was'nt as good as last years Hertz rental!
I managed to get both to give me average 9mpg!! :D:D

    As for using GotRentalCars........
Ok, i was apprehensive at 1st using them last year, but did 2 rentals with them last year with Avis, and did 2 rentals this year....
They are owned by BSP-Auto , so depending on the booking, they will book you with Avis via the UK arm, or with Avis via the French arm.......
I signed up to Avis Plus, so your able to link the booking from GotRentalCars as long as you get the 'GB' in the booking, so u can skip the queue and goto the garage.......

That reminds me, i need to write up my trip report on how much money i lost, AGAIN ! :D:D:D:D:D   (story of my life! :D  )
