then fly across to Arizona , visit family , Grand Canyon, Lake Havasu , Laughlin then onto Vegas in September.
That sounds quite like a trip we did a few years ago. We flew to Phoenix and stayed a few nights in Scottsdale.  We then drove up to Montezuma Castle (stopped to see it), then a stop off for an hour or so at Sedona, and then on to Flagstaff. Checked into hotel quite early, and then up to Grand Canyon around lunchtime. Evening in Flagstaff. Next morning drove across to Lake Havasu City, Oatman and onto Laughlin for a night at Aquarius hotel. Then next day onto Vegas.

Oatman is well worth a stop if you want to see the burros. We had a great trip, and would repeat some of it but maybe take a night in Sedona.

    Sorry about your friend.

But placed in reality to be fair. I'd stake that May definitely won't be possible... Much of the UK won't have even had their first jab, that'll be the end of July... And that's just jab 1 of 2, depending on your age. I'd suspect very limited overseas travel in the summer to European countries on a Covid passport. Long haul will be longer... And it also depends on how the destination is faring, USA is currently behind the UK in vaccination roll out.

I want to get back to the States as soon as possible, but realistically I'd think it'll be Christmas at the earliest. But I want to go for the sunshine too, so looking at Easter 2022 before we'll be going.

Very happy to be proved wrong though!

I want to go back . I hadnt missed a year in 20 years before last year.  Can you tell me what difference being positive or negative or miserable or happy will make to the US gvt allowing tourism from the UK ?
Of course its guesswork, like you I have nothing else to go on

Last year was a real washout, 2 trips to Vegas cancelled, booked flights for end of July, let's hope they have sorted out travel by then. Holding back on booking the hotel at the moment as the flights are refundable booked on points. Seems like forever since we've been there now.

Stolen from elsewhere, hence I haven’t double checked this information:

Current US Stats are 64.1 million vaccinated (The number of people who have received at least one dose of the vaccine)
    52.6% of the prioritized population
    19.3% of the total population.

New York Times are today suggesting most people could be vaccinated by late August

Is that vaccinated once or twice by Aug ? I think the UK aim to have most people vaccinated twice by August

Read yesterday that the J&J jab is single jab only, EU approval is being considered now, etc..

As for my bookings, both are using airmiles with Virgin, and hotels are always free, so my hope stays high as i'll just keep waiting for the green light!  Although, they need to get there act together asap, i sooooooooooooooooooooo need some ribs from Ellis island! :D and of course, a 2x2 with animal sauce / animal fries! :D  , oh, and some buffalo shrimp from Hooters + general tso wings , and some sweet bbq from Famous Daves and Rollin smoke...................
Oh crikey, i just worked up an appeitite! :D:D
