is it possible to re-open an account with vanquis if its closed a number of years ago?
Vanquis don't take ex-customers back. It's a strange policy, but it's their policy nonetheless.
They do. I closed my Chrome card back in September as the limit was rubbish but they happily gave me another card recently with a better limit and far lower interest rate. I had a card with them many years ago as well.

I’ve been doing what’s recommended and putting daily living expenses through on the credit card and I’ve set up a DD to take payment in full each month.
I was doing some reading online and I came across credit utilisation. Where it was saying you should only spend a % of your limit each month. Is that recommended?

There must have been a policy change recently. I closed my old Vanquis card about 10 years ago and periodically I have soft checked myself on their site. It’s always come up with the “Have we met before?” page…. Last time I checked was about 10 months ago. Last week I thought I’d soft check again and it approved me for a chrome card. Weird.
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

Credit is a tool to help you achieve your financial goals. It isn't a straightjacket to force you to worship at the altar of some credit reference agency's random number generator.

If you are paying in full every month utilisation is not relevant. Make sure your outstanding balance (not your statement balance) doesn't go over your credit limit and you'll be fine.
