PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Hello Forumites! In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. While we understand that mentioning house prices may sometimes be relevant to a user's specific MoneySaving situation, we ask that you please avoid veering into broad, general debates about the market, the economy and politics, as these can unfortunately lead to abusive or hateful behaviour. Threads that are found to have derailed into wider discussions may be removed. Users who repeatedly disregard this may have their Forum account banned. Please also avoid posting personally identifiable information, including links to your own online property listing which may reveal your address. Thank you for your understanding.

Anywhere near a school - in fact if there wasn't a school for a 100 miles it would be great.....6

A steep driveway. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night.

Definitely, I don't know how I forgot that one, service charges of any description would put me right off.Marvel1 said:Leaseplan
Also a couple more:
Too small - which rules out pretty much anything built in the last 30 years
Storage heaters
Dodgy/annoying neighbours are a given, obviously you don't know for sure until you you move in but warning signs are:
Rubbish, garden furniture or toys in front garden
Barry car on the drive
Union Jacks or George flags4 -
Attached to another house.

School doesn't bother me where I am as it's a single dead end track and no cars can park
So mine has to be a detached in a rural area ,1 -

No roof, or one which needs immediate replacement... no central heating, decent bathroom (or any bathroom?) or litchen
Oh- hang on; I lied.
Now I recall I bought two like that; in 1975 and 1997... And because they were wrecks when I bought, I made a mint in added value when I sold on... (although the one I then bought in 2007 didn't do so well due the the price-collapse oin 2008 , and a mate got similarly burned when he bought at the peak just before the crash in 1987!
In fact I also even sold another house whose roof was shot; visible damp on the internal chimney breasts... but as the buyers planned a loft conversion, we just adjusted the price...
So what geographic location-related, external, environmental or social factors can't you fix...? ... because you can usually sort the internal material issues!0
