Thanks all, I am procrastinating about calling, it just feels like such a massive thing and feel so tired and weary of it all. I will do it, but I don't feel like I can do it now, I will try and do it tomorrow. Just admitting it even on here is one step forward I guess, I will have to sleep on it and take the next step tomorrow, I feel drained.
That's good that you felt able to tell your husband Babybelles, mine really wouldn't take it well at all. He is quite stressed at the best of times and has a temper but at the minute I think it would push him over the edge (he does a very stressful key worker job and his job at the moment in terms of stress and conditions is almost intolerable, I don't think he could take it if I told him).
I will have a look around the forum. Thank you for your advice and for not judging me

I understand. At least you are facing up to your debts, you are on here & are making a plan. Maybe starting a Debt Free Diary will help? I’ve set one up & I’ve popped down the amounts I owe. You could always fill in an SOA & some of the lovely people on here can give you some tips.
You’ve just got to remember you will get it sorted in the end & you’re on your first steps towards hitting that goal.

Thank you, I think when I first posted I'd latched on to the idea that I had enough in my pension to pay it all off and almost daydreaming about the debt being gone overnight. But it sounds like it's going to have to be a long road. I'll wrap my head around that today and tonight then I'll speak to them in the morning, otherwise I'd just end up blubbing down the phone at them!
I like the idea of the diary, it's almost painful to look at the actual amounts but the charity will be asking for the numbers anyway so might as well face it!
I'm glad I posted on here, I almost posted about this on the money matters section of Mumsnet but spotted a thread by someone else about a secret debt and they got ripped to shreds, so it's reassuring to know this forum is here with support to help fix the problem and not judge.6 -
You just want to fix the situation, & you will do but it will just take a little longer.
Someone on a different thread said they downloaded the Debt Manager app & found it useful. It was 99p but I’m liking it as you pop down all your debts, how much you pay, what the APRs are etc so it gives you a debt free date. You can also add any overpayments you make on to it as well & it shows a pie chart of your debt & how much goes on interest.I also have high interest payments so it’s given me a reality check on how much I owe (again!) but given me a clear picture to work with. You just now need to try to stop spending on the CCs so you’re not occurring anymore debt.Maybe start eBaying (if you don’t already) & doing some surveys to make some extra cash.
You’ve got this 👍🏻4 -
Mumsnet can be a very toxic place so I'm glad you found us. Most of us are or have been in debt and there's plenty of people here who have kept their debts secret from their partners.
A diary is a good place to start, even if you're not ready to call the charities. You will get loads of support, hints & tips from this site.

Our aim is to get you debt-free and still leave you with a pension!7

@jadewest94 oh was it? I think the person mentioned using 100 squares too & filling them in. The app is great to use so thank you very much for suggesting it, it’s been a game changer for me 👍🏻1
