To add to what's already been said.  For many years I had a set of very cheap, thin jump leads that I'd use occasionally in a situation such as this, and they were usually OK.  But if the battery was very flat, the engine wouldn't turn over - even after leaving the jump leads connected with the donor car running at a fast idle for a few minutes.
A neighbour once lent me his big thick jump leads, I tried them - what a difference, engine started straight away.  I've now bought a pair of decent ones myself :-)
So, it's possible that the jump leads you've got are just not capable of carrying enough current.  Push-starting sometimes works if jump leads won't cut it.
Ultimately though, if the battery is that flat you'll probably want to get a new one.  Batteries don't last forever - also, they don't like being fully discharged, and this cold weather will kill a battery that's feeling poorly already.

A good clue is how hot the jump leads get.

i dont have a multimeter, i have jump starting via a diesel porche

'Running car, battery +ve to battery +ve, good solid bare metal to good solid bare metal?
Leave it five minutes, then hold the running car at 1,500-2,000 rpm, try the dead one. Any change at all?

im going to try this again

    Automatic...

There's a safety interlock that'll prevent the starter from operating if it's not in Neutral or Park.
Sometimes, the switch goes a bit wonky, and doesn't quite detect the position correctly. Do you have any dash display to show what's selected?
Sometimes, the switch is fine, but the message doesn't get through from it.
  • getting the rapid clicking sound now when trying to turn over with jump leads connected

OK, so it's trying to turn the starter, but is just too flat - the solenoid's trying to pull it in, the voltage drop is too much.

    Needs more charge.

ok the rapid clicking has stopped, it sounds like it was going to turn over but it didn't - not sure if it needs more charge

    It does.

Put the jump leads away, and beg/borrow/steal a charger.
For blue-moon use, you could probably do worse than something like this:
    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Automatic-Electronic-Car-Battery-Charger-12V-5A-Fast-Trickle-Pulse-Modes-UK/264971875991

But if it's got this flat, and you've had issues with it before, expect to buy a new one soon.
Hyundai coupe auto? 2002-2009? 2.0 or v6? If so, quick google suggests you're probably after an 005L battery - decent brands start about £50-60, delivered.

How long did you have the donor car running before attempting to jump start and remember the negative cable on your car needs to be attached to an earthed surface such as a bare piece of metal in the engine bay, not the negative terminal on the dead battery.
