car not starting, i tried jump starting, it doesnt turn over. doors open via fob - help

Options
hi guys
my car isn't starting and is stuck on my drive, i tried jump startting and leaving the it running for 10 minutes etc and see if that would make a difference, but the car doesn't turn over
i have had battery issues in the past, but this looks different as there is life. the fob opens the car door, lights come on.  The panel in the car lights up when i turn the key, it doesn't just turn over...
what other things could i try , before getting it towed to a local garage

could it be a lack of fuel?  i'm pretty sure it was topped up or had fuel - so confused.

If your panel lights up, does the fuel gauge move?

You've tried jump starting and leaving it running? But it does not turn over??

When the key is in and turned what does fuel guage say?

Turn main lights on are they dim?

Sounds like battery charge or new battery.

Obviously a starter motor takes far more power than everything else combined. Get the battery and charging system checked out.

Sounds like battery to me. Can you explain how you tried to jump start it, it's surprising the number of people who think they know how to jump start a car but really don't and fail.

Have you got a multimeter? To check the voltage produced by the battery. £10 from screwfix.
When you say jump start did you put the leads between the 2 cars then run the donor car at quite high revs for 5 minutes or more. Then with them still connected and the donor running try starting the dead one? PS this is what I would do but may damage either vehicle do it at your own risk,

It doesnt turn over means it can't be left running, thats impossible. How are you confused about fuel, look at the fuel gauge and know for certain. Does it have an immobiliser? Is the car making any noise when trying to start? It sounds like a breakdown service will be the best bet in this instance.

Lack of fuel won't stop it turning over.

    Let's go back a step...
You unlock the locked car with the remote.
You turn the key to "run". The dash lights up, as per normal. All the self-tests go out as per normal.
If you turn the headlights on, they're bright?
Now turn the key to "start", with the headlights still on. Do the lights dim? Is there an audible click?

Do you have access to a voltmeter of any kind?

Is it automatic? If so, it is in N or P? Properly in? Move the gearlever around, back to the other one of the two, and try the key again.

    How are you jump-starting?
Running car, battery +ve to battery +ve, good solid bare metal to good solid bare metal?
Leave it five minutes, then hold the running car at 1,500-2,000 rpm, try the dead one. Any change at all?
