What I have discovered is my PC is NOT connected to the router which everyone else is on. I am connected directly to something else.

I don't know. I am sitting in his office. For some reason, there are two internet connections. I asked him why and he said he does not know. For 19 years, his sister ran 'shambolically' his office. They have now parted ways because she was cooking the books. He has no idea how anything is run, totally relied upon his sister. His sister use to enter hundreds of rows of figures in an excel spreadsheet and then use a calculator to add them up manually!! It's been a strange going on. I am literally trying to help get things organised so I can help him get an Administrator who knows what they are doing.
At the moment, if he employs someone, they will last a day and then probably walk out!0 -

( In the early days of XP and the old ADSL frog a PC would be compromised about 10 minutes after being connected to the internet
Much safer to use NAT
Best answer is to plug the PC into the same router as everything else

Sorry just had a thought!
The PC which I am trying to add to a printer, is owned by my friends business. I insisted he bought a PC as both he and his sister used laptops and they are awful to use. He was anti getting a PC but I persuaded him this would be best for him. And also, I am helping out for free and I do not want to be tied to a cruddy laptop which is just awful to use. I am much faster with a decent sized monitor, keyboard and a responsive mouse.0 -
