Kia Dealership diagnosis charge
I've had my 2nd service at the local Kia dealership, i took out a care plan to cover the cost of the first 3 services.
When i took the Sportage in i mentioned that the door flap to the filler cap wasn't locking correctly and it stayed open a couple of mm.
i also mentioned that the exhaust seemed noisy.
Kia called me saying i would have to re book car in to look at these faults as they required diagnosis at a charge of £108.
After diagnosis if the problems were deemed to be covered under the 7 year warranty i wouldn't be charged this fee.
I find it hard to believe they serviced my car so car would of been on the ramps yet they didn't think to check the exhaust to damage which in my opinion would be the first thing to check. In relation to the filler cap not locking how can a diagnosis check pull up the issue with it not locking.
They still have my car and are going to look at it again on Monday when they are fully staffed.
My concern is they will charge me £108 for a check on issues which should of been looked at todays service.
Perhaps i made a mistake booking a service for a Saturday when they have skeleton staff who don't have the skillset of the technicians who work weekdays.
Any advice most welcome

Service is just whats in the manual
Oil change, filters etc.
My big issue is the 7 year warranty, if the flap doesn't lock then surely thats a fault and should come under warranty
I've noticed that Kwik Fit offer free diagnosis checks but are wary of their bad record of ripping customers off with work which isn't required.
also it looks like its just an engine diagnosis which probably wouldn't detect the noise which i think is exhaust related0 -
Diagnostics is a lot more than just engine these days. Other modules include gearbox, HVAC (heating), electrics and anything else that has a wire attached to it.
Surprised that garages haven't been forced to cap diagnostic charges at 15 mins labour. You don't get a separate bill for them using a torque wrench."The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0 -

Just tell them you aren't paying it. It worked for me when they tried it on with me once a few years ago. You are basically being used as a pawn in the argument between Kia UK and your dealer. If Kia UK won't pay they want you to. Tell them where to go.0

My son's car was making an awful noise from the clutch and went into Arnold Clark for an MOT last week. It passed fine, but when I asked about the clutch noise, they refused to tell me anything unless I paid £118 diagnostic fee.A local garage was happy to listen and say, 'yeah, that's the clutch release bearing, mate'. They've got the job to replace the clutch.0

Kia dealers are paid by Kia UK for warranty claims. They want you to get involved when Kia UK refuse to pay and they expect the customer to pay. When I was told I just said I am not interested in your squabbles. I have got a warranty and I am not paying. They just said "OK bring it in then".0

You should not be paying for something to be checked under warranty, its not a fair wear and tear item. Did you by the car new? If so, claim for it under CRA from the supplying dealer and bypass the warranty all together!0
