That's because they don't use a torque wrench. They can't be bothered.dipsomaniac said:You don't get a separate bill for them using a torque wrench.
You are not all knowing about what every mechanic in every garage does or doesn't do.
You are just boring the ar5e of everyone with your constant waffling about how all garage mechanics are incompetent or are trying to rip people off.

And to do that, they will need to prove that the fault was inherent. How do you suggest they get that proof without having to pay for it?m0bov said:You should not be paying for something to be checked under warranty, its not a fair wear and tear item. The same CRA that requires the customer to prove the defect is inherent after 6 months?
Sounds like the sort of thing a diagnostic report would be handy for...

Even if he claimed via the CRA the onus would still be on the OP to prove the fault existed at the time of sale, which means he'd have to pay upfront for a diagnosis anyway. A charge, or indication that there might be a charge, for a diagnosis even under warranty is common to any dealership.m0bov said:You should not be paying for something to be checked under warranty, its not a fair wear and tear item. Kia contacted me today with an apology for how was treated at the weekend. Diagnostic check done at no cost and a back box ordered for exhaust which is covered under warranty.
They have done a repair in on the fuel flap and didn't mention any cost for the repair.
I did buy the car brand new on PCP and its a couple of weeks shy of 2 years old with just under 17K on the clock.

Well done, shame on Kia though!0

I have dealt with Kia dealerships for around 25 years & never ever been asked to pay a diagnostic charge.
Sounds like a dealership pulling a fast one.

He wasn't asked to pay a diagnostic charge, he was warned that if the fault was not covered by warranty then a charge would be made. Pretty standard in just about any dealership you go to.greyteam1959 said:I have dealt with Kia dealerships for around 25 years & never ever been asked to pay a diagnostic charge.

Just shows how crooked dealerships are. The manufacturer won't pay so we'll try and charge the customer. Just say no.0
