It’s just depressing looking at the constant changes in service. Our mortgage application went in 25th May and doesn’t appear that any valuation has been requested yet and no documents checked.

Same here - meanwhile we are getting pressure from all sides (ie both sets of agents for our sale and purchase) to push the legals ahead when I don't particularly want to until we are a bit further along with the mortgage offer, which is pretty key to the whole transaction!

I agree it's nice to get a mortgage offer before you proceed with searches etc, lots of houses being down valued so you just don't know where you stand until you have had a valuation and offer to hand. Just look at me I am an existing customer done my application on the 5th May, then valuation on 11th of May, I gave all my documents anything requested straight away however  still not had a official offer, the last time I chased them up was 10th June, my additional borrow has been approved however they need to process this etc

We've applied for a Natwest mortgage via a broker, who are taking an absolute age just to submit requested documents to Natwest. According to them Natwest requires 'right the first time' documents only, so the broker is constantly asking for updated documents because it takes so long for them to check through it. I sent bank statements twice, firstly up to 30 days in May, was then told to upload statements for all of May, and now today, I might have to send statements up to mid June. Payslips sent 3 times, and takes days for them to reject and told was told today to post originals because Natwest have now changed criteria and don't accept scanned copies of the original. I feel like we in a never ending loop of submitting documents, and I dread to think how long its going to take once they are sent to Natwest and how many requests they will be making too. We are holding off doing any searches, survey, etc until we get a mortgage offer but at this rate, we may have to take the risk because either way it can go pear-shaped.

I know they're busy but that sounds like an excessive amount of time!

I put the searches through about 2 weeks ago and should be done in about another 2 weeks. Glad I got everything going already!
  • HI All,

    Timeline:
    11/05 - Application submitted ,
24/05 - Request for addition documents
    02/06- Request Additional Docs
    09/06 - Valuation booked for 20/06

    Few questions:
    1. Are Natwest likely to give feedback on any concerns / issues before valuation
    2. Do Natwest provide some kind of verbal indication that they are likely to approve subject to valuation before valuation takes place?
    3. Will there be radio silence until post valuation now
    Thanks!

Called them about 12pm today they said underwriters were happy and offer on the way. Offer documents received via email to me at 1pm and probably forwarded on to the broker too.
This has taken me from the hard credit search around 11th May
    So relieved!
    Good luck everyone

We submitted our bank statements as pdfs downloaded from online banking via our broker and these seem to have been ok?

Having had radio silence, we heard from our broker this morning about one additional document they wanted before final checks (letter about the IO part of the mortgage).  I think we have a desktop valuation booked for sometime this week as well.

    27/5 - Application Submitted
14/6 - Request for Additional documents

Applied last Tuesday (7th). NatWest have completed the payslip check, they have also instructed valuation which has been booked for 23rd. However no hard search has been carried out yet, is that normal?
