Like the box idea............I was going to do 'yule logs' with a piece of holly =they would look a lot better in a box. Only other thing I'd thought of was a silver cake board -not the thick ones, those that might be thing enough to cut to size, then pop a couple of pieces of blue tac on to secure the log.

I know the ones you mean they are thin
I think this type tend to be around nearer
to Christmas but there is a kitchen
wholesalers near me .I have been in to
have a look but they had none in.
Although they did have the thick round ones
in some unusual sizes.I was going to do a
tea towel hamper and I think one of them
    would be perfect fot this.

I dont blame you its awful here as
well, they reckon its snow at the
weekend for sure. I am going to
    be busying myself indoors this
    weekend.

    Just found out we are
going to a wedding in August
always a good excuse to find
    something to make going to
have a go at a towel wedding
    cake.

Thats men for you most leave their
    own Christmas shopping until
xmas eve so cant get their heads
    round being organised.Can you imagine
what it would be like if men were left
to organise everything for a family
    christmas.Not saying their all useless
but some would be in a right flap.

In our house its always been me who 'does christmas' -pressies etc. and OH sorts out food. Me and kitchens not being the best of pals I think I got the better deal. Its more fun.............lol

Now I'm trying to think of Mums day cards ! Sorted out images for MIL but I'd like to something special for my Mum as she''s so poorly. Last year I had an old sepia photo of me when I was little copied and put it as if it were in a frame with some flowers at the corners. She loved it so much its still on show...lol
I thought this year I'd do something with an old photo I've got of her Mum and one of my Mum when she was about 18, put the two together on the front somehow. I'll work on that at the weekend. Take my mind off the weather............lol

Mind you he did get a say in the Christmas dinner we had last year....:D

Bless him, he is always so lovely when Im going on about MSE, card making, hampers, knitting etc.

    He is so lovely :D

Ive just had a trial at making a 3D card wedding cake with some hideous orange card I got in a craft pack. Anyway its turned out really well, so Im safe to use the luxury card and paper I have :j

My OH has the patience of a saint..........he must have..........I'm always going on about MSE or family history stuff -poor soul is probably bored to tears but never shows it. Looks a bit bemused when I show him cards I've made and my baskets ...................lol:j

Good value ! Be ideal for doing a plate of flannel cakes or even a christmas cake with white hand towel.

    good ideas

there are three sizes in the pack
and I thought if I could not get
the right size for the chocolate
logs. I could cut a square cake
board in two and lay one of these
over the top to hide the rough
edge where I cut the board.

sounds good. I'll nip to the cake shop on Monday and see what they've got in the way of robins and any holly and might find some doilies there. I could do things with them for my christmas cards............be cheap and easy.
