Hi, I'm new to this thread and have been looking through for ideas to make things for xmas, birthdays etc. Just wanted to say that I got some flannels from Primark today in the sale reduced to 50p for 5. They had loads in a big basket, various colours including beige, cream, white, pink and pale blue. I bought 3 lots, wasn't really sure what to do with them but after looking through this thread I've now got loads of ideas so just wanted to say thanks to everyone who's posted. Also sorry if it's been posted already but where do people get the cupcake cases from?

Hi clarelou I think most people buy them from ebay but cnt remeber what seller they use.

  • hiya this is the seller http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Baking-Frenzy
if you are making doubles though i think there was some change in the size of the case where they were smaller or something
  • Thanks for that, just had a look at the page and have ordered some, looking forward to making them now. Just need to practice to get them looking like the others!!

hope this helps just to give you an
    idea of the size difference

    1x.jpg

The 5cm size on the left takes one single flannel,
or a pair of cotton socks

The 7.5cm size on the right takes two flannels,
a pair of fluffy socks or two pairs of gloves

Did anyone manage to use the larger cases with the 2 flannels in the end? I know I did it fine and they looked fab but I know Rainmac struggled to get 2 in and gave up?

For a birthday cake do you thinkg it would be best to use 2 hand towels for the cake bit then flannels as the candels and may be hide some things inside it?

Hope this helps, the main thing when making the flannel cupcakes is to get the "roll up" right.
