was half way through and god help me the bloody electric went off!
anyway, just popping on to say Thanks to all of you with your ideas and instructions, this is the BEST thread on mse and i have made loads of things from it,
My OH and I have a little business of homemade cards and cakes and I have expanded it with cupcake muffins, nappy cakes and now snowman soup!
im desperate to make a reindeer but cant find any dark brown flannels, and i live nowhere near any good shops!
im sat here like a complete nutter surrounded by curling ribbon, cello bags of different shapes, size and patterns, wrapped muffins, rolled nappies and flannels.... madness!
oh... and can anyone point me in the right direction for magic reindeer food instructions?
i love it!EDIT - dont worry... found it!
I saw dark drown ones in Poundstretcher's if this is any help not sure of price. Asked my dad he is not sure either. (He works there lol) Wins in 09 = A vodka cocktail kit thing lol, £150 Amazon voucher.0 -
No idea about the spotty ones. But people have used striped or spotty socks in the cupcakes, if that is of any help0

socks... that's an interesting idea. Might look into it...0

mine were 3 for £1 from poundland and are really thick and good quality....all different colours but no spotty ones ...i did see stripey ones in the coop chemist today though0

I also bought a set of two pairs of gloves
in Primark for £1, ignoring the colours because
these were bought to match my coat and not
the case, although they dont look too bad.
they had a selection of different colours in these
gloves, one in particular was a set of cream and
soft ivory pink, they would loook really good in
any of the cases and it may be that if you have
the smaller cases you would be able to fit one
pair of gloves in them, should also add these gloves
are in the ladies clothes section:j:j:j0 -
These are brilliant. I can see these being quirky gifts but what are you supposed to do with them? Leave them as they are or use the cloth. I cant imagine why people would buy a folded flannel.0

while there may be one or two people who might display them in the bathroom for a short while, they are flannels! usually with a bit of soap or a bath pearl on top (well mine are anyway)
you take them out of the case and use them... just like you would any other nicely produced bathing product - Boots sell thousands of "quirky" bath gifts every year... why shouldnt we!
all mine are made, topped, bagged and ribboned and waiting for our sale tomorrow... along with our hand made cards, nappy cakes, sweetie bags, snowman soup, pints of socks, jars of nothing, home made cookies and cupcakes etc.... hopefully we should drum up some christmas business for our little business!
tomorrow is the first time any of our stuff has gone on sale to the general public, ive sold cards to friends and family and my OH has had a few orders for baked goods... but this is the first proper sale as such...
as its a part table top event too we will also be selling some baby clothes and other "jumble"
so if nobody is interested in the hand made side... at least we can hide up the other end of the table with our second hand stuff!0 -

Boots sell flanel cakes and have sold them
in thousands both this year and last year
as well. They are it seems a best seller at
£2.49 each,we make them on here for a
lot less on average around 70p each or
less,a some of mine around 30p each
the ones with socks and gloves etc around
£1.30 each. its a considerable saving
and very money saving
This makes it a very cheap, pretty ,quirky gift .
anyone can give socks ,gloves, flanels etc
as a gift wrapped in paper but this makes
it more interesting to recieve.I made these
last year the same as others on here and they
went down really well, just about the most
popular, talked about thing i gave out.
The huge plus to all this is anyone is capeable
of making these to look as good if not better
than the shop bought ones, there is NO SEWING,
no great artisitic skill involved.very easy to do
especially if you have kids easy for them to
make as well.

you should give it a try because I never realised
until last year just how much people appreciate
the extra effort put into something you make yourself
Word of warning though this was so popular last
Christmas that there were times when the flanels
in the colours we wanted sold out in the supermarkets
and shops where we were all buying them from and
this year there are more of us.
Go give it a go ,save yourself some cash and boost
your creativity.dont forget to post your pics of them
if you make any we all love to see finished results
and new ideas on here.:j:j:j0
