You are doing so right!! I moved over a period of a week bit by bit with my car - absolute hell!! my partner fetched my bed, freezer and garden pots as I was moving in with him (after 14 years - you cant rush these things!!)  I sold everything else.  (I was convinced someone was filling the cupboards as fast as I emptied them) He had moved a month earlier into our bungalow, leaving most of his stuff behind!! Not quite sure why but men just don't seem to get the need to pack before hand it was bad enough on the last day doing the final walk through and seeing bits and bobs I had missed - three car loads later!!  I have one tall bookcase in my new home with all my precious bits and bobs on given by my daughter and grand daughters plus my birth teddy (now 70+ years old) it gives me so much joy to look at as each piece comes with a lovely memory - so I have no regrets at being brutal giving things to raise money for charities.  I hope it all goes through really quickly for you and you get a moving date x

When I asked my daughter did she want her various bits from childhood she said "you've never still got them, just get rid!! she is a minimalist! I had clutter in my garage that I had moved with 12 years before all packed in boxes never been opened! x

Morning another hot day forecast been for a dog walk this morning a bit cooler for her she hates the heat then we are going to pop down to my sons garden for a couple of hours this afternoon another lazy day I am going to make omelettes for lunch just to use up a few odds and sods in the fridge and I haven’t a clue for later but I’ve got plenty in I am having a battle with hubby about the freezer we are moving about 10 minutes down the road I have said if we unplug the freezer at the last minute tape the door closed and plug it in at the new house it doesn’t need to be emptied he insists it will have to be empty for them to move it any advice is welcome

The movers will only have to wiggle it onto a sack barrow, their lorry will have a tail lift so I wouldn't empty it.  Perhaps if hubby feels so strongly about it he will empty/wrap and refill other end!!  x

I totally understand my partner is the same can always give instructions about doing things it is just so frustrating, I am quite pleased he did a walk through of my house as I have just remembered I didn't empty the cupboard above the cooker hood!! and he didn't notice!! I am definitely keeping quiet about it!! x

Had a early start today went to Newcastle quayside market with my son and his partner it was fairly quiet but we were there for 9 it was lovely sunshine and a nice walk through the city from where we parked really enjoyed it didn’t buy anything there is nothing I want really saving my money for the house move but it was just nice to get out and about for a change on the way back there was long tailbacks of traffic to get into the city so we went the right time we had very little traffic coming home drove up to the angel on the way home I love her and I will admit when she was unveiled a long time ago now I was one of those that said what a waste of money pile of rust but the first time I saw her up close I fell in love makes my day if we pass her chicken salad for lunch with some little new potatoes I’m stuffed will take the dog back out a bit later she’s snoozing at the minute the heat kills her won’t be doing much else just going to have a look at the newspaper and a sit in the garden
