Make do, Mend and Minimise in 2021

Wow can't believe it is pretty much a month since I last posted on here. We are all busy doing our stuff. Still busy with all of this here as this helps with making our lives simpler and better in more ways than we realise.
Make do - still on with keeping food stuffs down in price and on budget, have now got a little stash to go towards what we may decide to spend it on. Less equals more
I'm making do with the bathroom by doing some popular painting in there so it does not annoy me until we get round to replacing it. Also the lawn is having a make do bit of a make over as we had abused it whilst other work in the garden was being carried out. Had to buy some top soil but hoping to save a few hundred pounds not applying turf but seeding it. The way the birds and their young have finished with it and we are on a water meter(the weather forecast was rain for the following week did not transpire) I'm not so sure it will be the case for us.
Mend - DH did not break the lawn mower he had worked on luckily. The sewing machine still not made another appearance, yet I am thinking of making some buntings.
Minimise - Success is slowly happening and stored toiletries and their contents making their way in to use and packaging on its way out. The baking shelf (cupboard) has also seen a reduction too. The best minimise for this month is in spending, now that is success

I was just thinking the other day that we haven't posted for a while!
I've minimised 2 wisdom teeth this week, so feeling a bit sorry for myself. Also half a stone gone due to not eating as much as usual.
We have one more week of our school holidays left, so hoping I will feel better soon, so that I can paint the last bit of eldest sons's bedroom, have been waiting for hubby to replace a bit of plasterboard, then I can carry on moving soil to make another raised bed for some fruit bushes. The current soul pile is covered in weeds, so looks unsightly. Have already bagged up all the bonfire debris, will take 2 more trips to the tip to clear the last lot.
I'm currently knitting a poncho for a friend's big birthday in October, so using up wool from my stash, knitting the odd small square with scraps too, to make a jumper for the garden.
Something to be minimised from my bucket list today, is that I'm finally going to be a contestant on radio 2's Popmaster quiz!!
Hope you're all doing well xUse it up, wear it out

I'm managing to Make Do and Mend and Minimise all in one go! After failing for some months to find fabric I like for a skirt to get married in this autumn, I've made a Final Decision to wear a skirt and fitted jacket which I started making in the late 1990s but never finished; the skirt got to 'wearable' but with a safety pin instead of a hook and bar at the waistband and a nasty cheap shoddy lining, but the jacket never got finished. The pattern was my Gran's, from the late 1940s, and the fabric is an incredibly good quality British wool, a very very fine flannel in a warm mid-grey, and the decent lining for it is a rich pistachio-green.
So I shall be wearing all three:
Make Do: wear a suit I already own instead of buying something new
Mend: sort out the safety-pinned waistband and put a better lining into the skirt
Minimise: two boxes of half-made stuff from my ghastly stack of half-made stuff!
I'm quite pleased!2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:
January (29): winter boots, green trainers, canvas swimming-shoes (15); t-shirt x2 (8); 3m cotton twill (6);
.
2025 second-hand acquisitions (no coupons): None thus far
.
2025 needlework- *Reverse-couponing*:11 coupons :
January: teddybear-lined velvet jacket (11) & hat (0); velvet sleep-mask (0);16 -

well hello .its been ages since I last posted, but this last few weeks have been busy with lots of MMMing,
Decking in the garden had rotted and I um and thought about just replacing the rotten planks to finding that some of the joists were also rotten. I decided that they could all go and at some point, I would replace it with some nice slabs or stone.. I was happy and excited to find under the mess and weed barrier a whole patio of lovely york type slabs already laid. So fingers crossed a good power wash and some titivating and it's all done.
I work in a nursing home so I've been taking books and magazines down there for residents and staff,
sheets of cardboard from packaging have been turned into various crafts and games for work.
AND I have finally let some stuff of my late husbands go.
more to come hopefully..
today's mood is brought to you by coffee, lack of sleep and idiots.
Living on my memories, making new ones.

Hi everyone, l haven't posted anything on here for ages.
Make do: making meals with what I have in.
Mend: perhaps not mending, but earlier today I finished a dress and made two peg bags.
Minimise: not spent anything and used up some stash fabric making the peg bags.
Going to start having a bit a bit of a sort out now the charity shops are back open.d2 has just phoned and asked if I would be interested in a tomato press, may come in handy, will have to Google it.

So good to hear from you all ☺️
How exciting to find your patio @cornishchick !!
I'm still recovering from my wisdom teeth removal, but have dug up the shallots, cut all the sweet peas (to make more grow) & hubby gave them too the old lady next door. This afternoon I've filled in the form for my son's college bursary & taken a black bag of crafty makes & put them in the storage crates in the shed, ready for craft fayres later in the year.
Going to minimise my dirty dishes now, then do some knitting. Have a nice evening!Use it up, wear it out
