Morning All,
Some lovely things happening here.
@Thrifty_Taylor love the sound of the suit I love the 40's styles.
Make do - Just collected a harvest from my black currant bush. I need to dig out the previous years of very small harvest from the freezer. It will only be just enough to make some compote
Mend - I have finally got the sewing machine out and been to a couple of local sewing classes for some educationI have managed to get an open sleeved dress to fit b
Minimise - this does include spending less pennies. I am going to work on minimising wasting time as I am very much a procrastinator. Physical stuff is also leaving the loft and small bit from the house (its a bungalow really but DH calls it a fungalow!!)

Went for a short walk with next door neighbours, this morning. They go a mile down the road & back again with their dogs. Thought it'd ease me back into walking again, not be up to hubby's 5 miles for a little while yet.
Minimised the ironing pile this afternoon & watched the last half of a series, did some knitting too.
Just been out & pruned my blackcurrants (as Mr Don on last week's G World prog suggested), then picked lots of gooseberries. Still lots more to ripen further. Not sure whether to attempt jam, where they'd last longer, or a crumble. Since hubby's renal failure diagnosis in April, there are restrictions on his diet, he can eat gooseberries though & eats lots of jam!Use it up, wear it out

Make do: had leftovers at lunchtime
Mend: nothing today that I can think of.
Minimise: it was recycling day today, so that was collected although there wasn't much in the bin, and I managed to do the ironing as soon as l as laundry was dried.

Lovely to hear from you all! I’ve been trying my best with the MMMing, but the house feels as though we could be doing better with the minimising! We’re having a friend to stay next weekend, so that’ll spur us on to sort some things.
Make do: I’ve dug some stewed apple out of the freezer from last year’s harvest (the last tub!) and I’m going to make some muffins. Still working through our freezer stocks!
Mend: no mending this week so far, but I have a least one shirt that needs fixing.
Minimise: DH is working through his dvd collection to see what can be chazzered. Also minimising our plastic going to the black-bin collection, as our local Sainsb’ys has started collecting all flexible plastic 👏🏻
Keep on keeping on everyone! X

Mend: I have a baby shawl to mend but probably need a couple of bits to do it.
Minimise: still being very careful with money so not spending anything!

Yesterday:
Make do: leftovers for tea again!!
Minimise: frozen given rhubarb for winter stores that someone didn't want.
Mend: mended a hole in a top that I didn't notice until I put it on. Also going to try to take in a pair of trousers, never done it before.

Well, done a little bit this week.
Minimised some unnecessary money as I thought my steam generator iron was broken. I had overfilled the water level trying to save time. So I spent a week sourcing another one. The day the new one arrived I gave to old one 1 last chance....and behold it produced steam!! I prefer the one that cost a 6th of previous.
Mend - removed a button from a sleeve and chose a pair from the button tin and stitched back into place. (been waiting weeks/months)
Make do - for some strange reason I have 2 ironing boards. One is in normal use and other is used as parcel wrapping stationlocated in the loft. The in use one has lost its plastic feet so swapped them round, as I am now using a standard iron the swap is even better for siting the iron.
Continuing to eat from freezer stock.

Making do: dug some "feral"(i.e self-sown) spuds up at the allotment this morning. Most were fine to store, but a few weren't; there are always a few where the fork went in, or something's had a little nibble. So after we'd cleaned them up, & cut off any less-than-desirable bits, DD2 suggested trying a new recipe; frying them up with garlic, honey & soy sauce, then tossing them in sesame seeds. Oh yum! An excellent light lunch. I also made a pair of trousers from an old sheet... to be fair, it was a superb-quality linen sheet, which I'd tie-dyed. I wanted a pair of Japanese-style tie-waist trousers, as I'm fed up with tight trousers for working in, so I bought a pattern (which I'll be using again & again) & had a go. Apart from a slight disaster with the placing of the tie-dye pattern, meaning I'm going to have to dye them again (plain black this time!) I'm thrilled with them. So cool & comfortable!
Mend: not really a mend, but I re-purposed my old Per Una jeans (bought in a charity shop about 5 years ago) which had frayed terribly at the bottom, into a pair of shorts for allotment, garden & beach wear.
Minimise: oh dear... I need to sort out some of Mum's china to take to the auctioneers next week. And a few other bits & bobs... my "sewing room", aka the spare bedroom, is in a terrible state. I do need resources, and some of my stock is stored in there (high value vintage silk clothing; I really don't want that out in a shed) but I also do need space to move around, and to be able to find the things I need! So I'm aiming to blitz it over the next week. It doesn't help that quite a lot of the stuff in there isn't actually mine...
Edited to add: On a bit of a roll this morning, I've decluttered 3 bags of stuff (binbags, not carriers!) from the sewing room to DD2's room for assessment and disposal if necessary, plus one to DS3. And 3 bags belonging to DD2 have been stuffed into the cupboard, pending a decision on their future. (i.e. they'll be going out, or back to her room.) I think there are still at least 2 bags of DD1's in there, plus a lot of stuff I need to move onwards myself. But I've made a start on the minimising, and it's beginning to look a little more manageable. Plus I've decided to move all of Mum's china on in one fell swoop tomorrow. Please keep me up to the mark!Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)10 -
Evening MMMers,
Make Do -
Got the sewing machine out! Stitched 2 pillows that seem to have lost their stuffingness. Stitched them down one side so the stuffing stays more in the right place rather than it all moving to the side and leaving you flat in the middle. They weren't expensive ones so was rather expecting something like this to happen
Mend -
more like un mend as am unpicking old pillow cases to be made into rags. Why would I do this? I have asked myself the same, I just am, sometimes its just nice to do something I don't have to think about, clearly just switching off in a healthy way
Minimise -
This currently is just the dust in the house from the dogs running in and out as the doors are all open. Moved and item from the loft the other day, this incurred DH having to do a small job of siting the iron and ironing board holder in the back bedroom behind the door. Tidy x 2 in one do. Paper shredding done and its to go out to a lady in the village for some small animals. Oh just remembered also removed some old tiles from the loft which are for our dated kitchen, that's why the half empty bin feels heavy
Well done all
