  • Get yourself down to the nearest casino
Given the type of 'investor' who might take you up on your offer, you'd likely have a higher expected value if you just put the money on a roulette wheel in a legit casino. This would be a terrible idea, but less terrible than this approach to investing.

Give the £100k to me today, in 40 years I will give you £900k back (and take my £100k cut). Or you can do it yourself, and keep that £100k too.
    1.06^40 ~= 10.28, 6% nominal return is pretty conservative

  • Tesla would have done in a year, Scottish Mortgage Trust in several years.

Unfortunately, I suspect the reason you and I could not see that then, is the same reason we can't see similar opportunities today.

And of course, for every Tesla there is another company which will take your £1000000 and turn it into £100000

Indeed, invest it wisely and give it 20 years or so...

For every Tesla, there will be a Nikola.  :D

A new poster,  who has £100,000  'spare' cash (so presumably a lot more) comes onto a public forum to ask  a bunch of strangers he has never met what he should do with his money  and picks the username   'MoneyTreeMe'.     Does the fantasy end with the choice of username ?
  • FWIW - I believe I am on my way to doing similar. My initial investment in a portfolio of mostly biotech stocks has doubled from £40K to over £80K in around 14 months. I think I can turn 80K in to at least 1-2 million in 5-10 years by investing in a single stock (although I have other investments, so I'm not relying on this one to succeed), Arrowhead. Investing that much in a single stock is risky there is no doubt (nothing is 100% guaranteed), but I have yet to find a company that has the potential like Arrowhead does along with the security it offers. I fully intend to. Those who do not dream don't have even a tiny a chance of fulfilling their dreams.
I would like to know though, what makes you so sure that Arrowhead won't ever make it to $1000+ share price?
