  • Tried to buy 5 repeat items on Amazon, at checkout was notified 4 of the items couldn’t be shipped to NI.

So, is there anyone left who still thinks brexit is a good idea? Why?

I note Amazon is saying there will be more things it won't ship after the April deadline.

That may be the deadline at the end of 2021... there's a grace period up to then where medicines shipped GB to NI don't have to jump through the EU regulatory hoops. After that there's a massive extra burden on that kind of shipment.

So far as I could see, the government response was something along the lines of "alternative sources will need to be found, maybe in the EEA". No !!!!!!, Sherlock.

According to that Rees-Mogg bloke, the fish are happy. And I'm sure there will be a number of people rubbing their hands in glee at the problems the EU are having with AstraZeneca, but not really sure that counts as a reason for brexit being a good idea.

Are there any countries, anywhere, which have established trade barriers against themselves? Has anyone else been this stupid? All this nonsense about how the EU was preventing us from trading with the rest of the world, and now we’ve a trade barrier with Scotland.
My machine, sent from Barnsley on the 12th, was finally delivered last night. Quite a relief as it cost over £1200, but what a mess.

It'll be quite annoying if OTC meds and supplements are harder to ship here - they're so much cheaper online, especially if you're getting veggie and vegan stuff. I know places I can get them here (ordering to Boots as they're not kept in stock), but it's often twice the price or more. I've done a little stock up, but the shelf life is usually only a year or two so it's not possible to prepare in any real way.

Since these are all British businesses, surely the problem is that we’re still in the EU single market? If we’d left along with the rest of the U.K., sending goods from the mainland to here wouldn’t be an issue. It seems to me that it’s not so much brexit being the problem but rather a ‘lack of’ brexit.

Surely the problem is that they didn't negotiate a Brexit which kept us in the customs union and single market (which May ruled out, stupidly)? Not a case of "not enough Brexit", but too much - assuming you believe that it's a good idea at all.
