Hello 2021, 1/31 for me so far so good
Nothing to see here, move along.4 -
Hello All,
I've signed up for "Dry January" this year so expect to see a lot of me in the next few weeks.
Unfortunately, a few weeks ago, my partner of 16 years announced he doesn't want to be with me anymore. Although running a business together with all the stresses that that involves hasn't been great, it never for a second entered my head we wouldn't be together forever. Its all come as a big shock.
Some of you may recall that i did "Dry October" which meant that i stopped going out and partner went out and would meet our friends on his own. Unfortunately, he decided that he enjoyed himself much more not having me around as he could relax rather than having me around drinking too much and being a lightweight. Or being rude thinking i was being funny. Or arguing with him. Obviously, some of you older "forummers" will remember 5 years ago i assaulted him after buying steroids off the internet and drinking on them. Police were called by the neighbours. Apparently although id never done it before (or since) the damage was done that night and he said he wishes we had just ended then as he never felt the same again. All my own fault i know!
Partner is keeping the pub as it is his home town and will buy out my share of the business, which after our Covid year will not be very much. I don't have to leave the town but by the same token, i have no reason to stay either. Over the last few weeks, we've got on very well which in my head at least signalled that we may not be over after all. However, that was wishful longings on my part. At present, no one knows that we are over. I asked that he keep it quiet so i can get a chance to decide what to do and where to go without people discussing and speculating. So i find myself approaching 50 with no job or career, no partner and no home either. It is like my life has been thrown up in the air and landing wherever. I know i should look at this as a new adventure but i am having anxiety attacks and shakes and feel completely lost.
So, calling in for tonight 1/31.
Thanks for listening.

So sorry to hear your news Manpants - that must have been a terrible shock. I do remember the incident a few years ago - you both did so well to recover from that but, as you say, it was something your partner never really got over. Sending you positive thoughts and I do hope you find a new way forward.
I might have a non-drinking day today but not confident enough to declare early so will report back tomorrow.
The new emojis are brilliant cathybird - I shall look forward to collecting them throughout the year 😀4 -
I'm so sorry to hear this ManPants. I hope you and your ex partner will come out of your relationship with dignity and some good memories. Very best wishes for the practical and emotional changes ahead. X
I am 1/28 for yesterday please cathybird. Thank you. X3 -
