Thanks both, I know it has really brought it home and a totally unnecessary end to a life. I see there is updated restrictions being announced later. I really do hope that we can get ourselves sorted once and for all. As I’m not sure how we can go on. At least this time if work closes again il not let myself drink every night like I did when we got sent home in March. Been there done that not doing it again!4

Good afternoon everyone,
lantanna, sorry about your colleague. ((Hugs))
4 please Cathy - however I'm finding sleep very difficult at the moment.
Arkers x3 -
Thank you for letting me join you.
Sorry to hear about your colleague, Lantanna. That is really sad.
We are now in a total lockdown until February. Not allowed to leave the house but I'm not going to use that as an excuse to start drinking again. Today I've been having sparkling water with a dash of lime juice and very refreshing it is too. So that's me started. 1/20.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.4 -

Welcome to the newest members of the thread. Lantanna, so sorry to hear your sad news, that must have been a big shock. Annie I hope your poor head is feeling better soon.
I'm off the starting blocks today so 1/13 please Cathybird. I love your new emojis! Could I go for 150 as an annual target again (again, again again...).
Maman, thanks for your question on the last thread: "Looking at your scores, you seem to have lots of excellent months and then a few blips. Do you know why specifically? 🤔"
I often struggle in December at the end of a year when I know I have missed my target. I have always struggled with getting back on track straight after holidays. When I get on a good streak of not drinking it makes me sleep better and I get into a virtuous circle. Unfortunately that is also true when it all goes downhill I feel self pity and like the target is too far away to hit. I think there is also a pride/smug feeling when it goes well for a while and then I stop being vigilant. Plus some is just completely to block out the bad stuff going on - alcohol has often been a way to escape for me. Unfortunately the next day the bad stuff is still there and I have a hangover to contend with too. Thanks for the question, still mulling it over.

4/31 eating chocolate as booze is off the menu after seeing the latest breifing from Boris Johnson. I'm waiting to hear from my employer but I bet we will still have to carry on as normal this time. My wife is a key worker but might be working from home but we don't know yet so don't know if the kids can stay at home or not.
Nothing to see here, move along.4 -
Sorry, Barny1979. My comment was maybe misleading. Yes I am in Scotland and you are perfectly correct I could leave the house for very specific reasons but I have a medical condition and am advised not to if at all possible.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.5

Welcome to the thread ditty1234, Toni'sfriend and picnmix64. This thread has been of invaluable help to me in previous years. To the other Giving Up/Cutting Down veterans, here’s to another year of mutual support and encouragement.Sorry to hear your sad news lantanna. Unfortunately I think more and more of us will be in a similar position in the weeks ahead. 😔
ManPants I am also sorry to hear your news. Please just remember to look after yourself.Cathybird I am at 3/29 today please. I had a couple of drinks on NYD, partly as a reward for doing better than I expected in December, it was very restrained really but for some reason I felt ‘rough as’ the following day: tried, grouchy, no energy, dry & dehydrated, headache that wouldn’t shift. So I have no inclination to drink anytime soon.4 -
Thanks WBF
I have added your target to the annual list, go for it
