Champagne Lifestyle on a Lemonade Budget - 2021

It is very sad about the MP being killed. That church was around the corner from the first house we saw in Leigh-on-Sea. I wanted to buy that bungalow as I thought it was perfect for us but my husband thought it was too far from the train station. It is a very nice, quiet area. Very shocking.:(
I wasn't feeling well this week so I took a Covid test which came back negative yesterday. I finally could go out for a walk and to the shop after almost a week of being indoors last night. I still have a cough but I want to go for a walk today and buy something for it. I'm on 8 antibiotics a day for this sinus infection I've got so I bought some probiotics to hopefully protect my stomach.
I suppose it is a champagne moment to be able to go out freely again, but I'm not feeling great!

I hope your family really enjoy Paris Siebrie
LL I sure that you are feeling a lot less delicate today. You sound like you have done a great job of decluttering and reconfiguring your sitting room. Would you share a photo of the room with us?
Thank you Wednesday. My family give me so much joy, especially in this uncertain world with are living in. I feel fortunate that so much of my family live in Andover and I can arrange a visit with all of them and have hours of fun and laughter with them all. My Disabled Rail Card is really starting to be well used now.5 -
Lovely photos Sugarbaby.Siebre your trip to Paris sounds fab. Hope you have a lovely time.Wednesday......thanks. Tummy still not 100% but getting there.Dull day here. Have already been to Aldi. Bought myself some flowers to cheer myself up.
Feeling a little bit "widowy" today....a bit low and melancholy. No real reason. It happens. Anyway not going to wallow in self pity. I had intended giving the kitchen a good blitz today but I have a busy day tomorrow socialising so have decided to postpone the blitz until next week. Just pace myself. I am going to give myself some TLC instead, facial, manicure and pedicure.I need a blitz more than the kitchen does, it can wait. 😉9 -
My champagne moment: reading my book in peace in the room affectionately known as '70s lounge' in our house. DH and tot were rambling elsewhere in the garden and DD watching telly in the snug so it was a rare moment of peace!

Thanks, everyone! We had a lovely trip. The hotel was really nice, with good beds (that's why we don't go to the cheapest hotels; a good night's rest is mandatory for short city trips!).We had unexpected savings: when we got to the Eiffel Tower, dds were too much in awe of the height and didn't want to go up, so we just looked around and took pictures. Then we went to Sacre Coeur by way of Chateau Rouge, the African neighbourhood. Dds were getting hungry and I ask husband when the shops in Chateau Rouge closed, and he said '9, I think', so we went to Sacre Coeur and a pizza place (dds and I shared 2 delicious pizzas) and returned at 8. All the shops were closing! So, no shopping, just watching, which was enough for dds. I felt safe there, it's lively but not menacing. We arrived at Sacre Coeur during Mass and listened to the Nun choir singing, and the Priest singing in reply while we were sitting (resting; those steps up are many and steep!) in the church. Dds had a long bath when we returned to the hotel (good for cleaning and centring themselves). On Sunday we had a very leasurely and generous breakfast, took our time packing up the room, and took the car to Galeries Lafayette. I drove, which was great fun; so many traffic lights! And so well hidden!
We parked for free, walked to the Galeries, admired the dome, the indoor balconies and the insanely priced merchandise (it's similar to Harrod's), went up to the roof terrace with it's wonderful view of Paris, where we found the restaurant closed (I'd promised them a light lunch there). So, we went back to the streets, where we had a simple sandwich in a sandwich shop. We walked around the shopping district a bit more, and then went home.
The snacks I packed kept us going these 2 days, dds were allowed to pick 1 snack each from a Parisian supermarket; we used our water bottles and found empty benches to take breaks; toilets are free. The weather was lovely.We could have seen more, but dds were quite overwhelmed as it was, so this was fine. We'll go again in a couple of years.Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.595 -
Siebrie that sounds lovely. We were meant to have a weekend away to Kilkenny next week but alas the tot isn't sleeping, I'm knackered and we spent £500 on a mesh system in anticipation of full fibre being installed (we both work from home so decent internet is a worthwhile investment!)...so we aren't going and my birthday will instead consist of vegan kievs, lemon cake and alcohol free prosecco. Partaaayyy.
I did however manage a champagne moment last night...I tinted my eyebrows for the very first time. After getting them microbladed for the last couple of years which is very costly I realised the issue wasn't lack of eyebrow hair it's that some of it was blonde (I'm dark brunette). Dyed them and voila....I have some full eyebrows and don't need to fill them in every morning. The kit was £6 for 12 applications so a revelation.
I also painted my toenails and did a facemask. I'm 7 months pregnant so don't exactly feel attractive but I feel marginally less like an ogre.5 -
Siebre your trips sounds great. City breaks can be tiring especially for little people with short legs. (Children). Or even for old crones like me with long legs. 😂.Mand....love your 70s lounge, very retro. Love the navy and orange together, great combo. And the view of the garden through the big picture window is just gorgeous.Yes SUgarbaby I'll take some pics of my revamped sitting room. Worked on the kitchen/diner today. Deep clean and decluttering, different rugs. Last night went to see the new Bond. Thoroughly enjoyed it.Has anyone been watching Gordon, Gino and Fred Go Greek. Can recommend it, it's so funny.7
