Greying_Pilgrim said:apple! How the heckington's wellington's ya doing??? Super well I hope. And as for growing - how's that beautiful DD of yours?? Hope she's excelling - I've got it in the back of my mind she got into a great school, because she is soooo ace, and all-round talent 😁. Hope all is going well. Yep, the advice that EVERYONE gives you to enjoy every moment (that you can) with a small is so right; littlies grow up sooooooooooo quickly. A new baby in the family prompted us to get LG's piccies out - and stuff that we remember as clearly as if it were yesterday, is now years old................
Glad you didn't graze anything stumbling across - because I inna insured........ 🤣
Take care you!
Greying XAll is well here, thanking you! We are all busier than ever with our jobs- me teaching live online and discovering the joys of Teams (but only 2.5 days per week, thankfully); dh with his part-time very local school caretaking role plus wot wiv church going online, he's been super duper wooper busy with all that, esp as it morphs along into different phases/productions...As for dd, well, she got a place in the wonderful posh school up the road with a spiffingly humungous bursary, so it costs us less than the child benefit each month, and she gets her lunches for free, help with trips + uniform costs... She is now in y8!!!!!!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!5 -
Good Morning!
apple - there is nothing that is not spiffing in your post - BRAVO! So good to hear good things at the mo 😁
Well played Scotland in the rugger yesterday - entirely worthy winners. What a pity the ITV commentators claimed that certain English players 'were having an off day', and England were a bit off par. How about the fact that Scotland played and defended very, very well, England were ill-disciplined and Scotland's win was richly deserved? I loved being able to watch the rugger on free-to-air TV, and am very much appreciating the coverage of Test Cricket from Chennai too.
Tea last night was Chana masala, lentil dhal and boiled basmati. I am pleased to report that LG ate a big (everything is relative, but it was a hearty portion for a child), bowl of lentil dhal with rice. To the extent that they really didn't have room for their beloved pasta (YAY!), but did have yoghurt and an apple to follow. There was enough chana masala leftover for another day, so that went into the freezer for a 'bitsa' tea.
No new property was added to the listings yesterday (not totally unexpected). I think we're in a bit of a lull now, which will probably mean that properties in our affordability bracket are few and far between. There may be a few estate sales, there may be a few people leaving the area, but I suspect the normal 'upgrade' or 'downgrade' churn will be limited for a while, as folk see if they have jobs in the foreseeable.
I've got a wash on and hopefully it will dry a little. We currently have a light breeze and weak sunshine. I suspect it is quite cold outside, but a little 'drying' may occur if I'm quick to get the load on the line.
I've got the delicious dilemma of a choice for what we have for tea tonight. We went out and about yesterday to get exercise, get some essentials (unfortunately the much needed clothes for LG don't fit - grrr thank you -not- mrS!) and dropped off some essentials to the parentals. Whilst in MrS, I picked up some potatoes. We have some small tatties in a big bag, however, this was a bag of 'wonky' potatoes that were all 'baking tattie' size. 95p for 7 big tatties and 3 smaller tatties (but still big), was good value for money I think. So tea might be something with a baked tattie, to avoid using the 'freezer chips' stock - they can keep for another day, when we're down on our uppers maybe.
I can't think of anything else MSE/MFW related to add.
Ta for popping by. Appreciated.

Ooh, good news on the tea eating! I might be inspired by you to do some kind of dhal related thing for tea myself 😁
No chance of washing going out here - it'd be so stiff it would probably snap in the space of a few seconds, and I'm likely get frostbite pegging it out. Brrrr!6 -

I am an England supporter but thought Scotland were solid yesterday, like England were trying to get through a brick wall. They deserved to win by more and we should count ourselves lucky to get the bonus point. It's great that the cricket is on terrestrial tv. My OH occasionally treats himself to a sports pass on now tv for the cricket but not when it's on through the night. We record it from 4am start then catch up later on so it's great while the weather the too bad to do much pottering outdoors5 -
Just popping in to say Hi to a new diary. I have never posted on yours before GP, but read a lot of your last one. Was originally attracted to those lovely meal photos and I thought by your name you might be a Plymouth argyle supporter (their nick name is The Pilgrims). Obviously not by reading your diary.
Enjoying the next chapter.
All the best

Good Morning!
Thanks for popping by - lovely to "see" you all 😁
Mrs_Boo_Boo - no, not lucky enough to live in Plymouth 🙁 Watching the fishing series about Padstow last night is about as near as I've been to the sea of late.
rt - LG's tea eating exploits have continued and they ate peas last night! You know those green spherical objects..... 😁
Gosh, Monday morning again. Is it me or does it come around quicker each week?
We've no snow here - I'm hearing on the radio that it's bad in parts. It is cold here though. We were all tucked up under blankies yesterday watching the rugger - which enabled us to hang on until the heating kicked in..... saving the pennies!
Tea last night ended up being a riff on stroganoff - made with quorn chunks. I had some red (wonky) onions, so cooked them up with some garlic, mixed peppers (frozen), paprika, half a stock cube and a slug of red wine that was left in the bottle. Then I added the quorn chunks. cooked it all for a while to meld the flavours. Then added a splash of water, lemon zest and juice, a handful of frozen peas and some greek yoghurt. Warmed through and served with brown basmati and steamed cauliflower. Yes, i did forget to add parsley into the 'stroganoff' 🙄 LG had fish fingers, pasta pesto, peas (a dessertspoon full), and a small piece of cauli (which they managed to regurgitate half of........🤮). They did eat all the peas, so I'm counting that tea as a win. Although peas are not the easiest thing to eat. I'm a little surprised that kids don't like peas - I guess the green colour must override their natural sweetness as a vegetable.
I have made a 'sort of' meal plan for this week - just haven't allocated it to days yet. I have a feeling that meals are going to be as 'warming and hearty' as I can make them for the next couple of days!
Pretty sure today can be an easy nsd. Can't think of owt needed to buy.
Will have a look if anything comes up on the property pages. And generally will be trying to keep us warm today. Difficult as LG is wandering about wearing very few clothes..... 🙄 And no, the heating isn't on 'super high' either, and it'll be going off in half an hour......
Right, best wander off and seize the day.
Ta for popping by.

Your diary does make me appreciate my son's (age 3) eating habits - broccoli, peas, carrots are some of his favourite foods. Sorry, it doesn't help you but it's made a real difference to the way I view his eating.4
