Oats are amazing, porridge (with milk, and a bit of salt- never sugar/honey/syrup), oatcakes, cranachan. But best of all- skirlie and mealie. And yes I'm Scottish 🤣5

Good Morning!
Ha ha ha! Well my play on words of 'Haute', and 'oat' seems to have inadvertently stirred the porridge pots around the nation - my apologies. If it's any help to the oat economy, DH and LG eat porridge every morning - winter and summer - and we do have oats in the house that are definitely used in other recipes - which I eat. I even eat the chocolate porridge cake that I remember dearest Pippi gave me the recipe for (the recipe says to make porridge for the cake - Pippi advocates using porridge 'leftovers'). Hope I've clawed back some credibility..........
Shopping today - for the parentals and for us (get it all done in one fell swoop). So it will be a spend day, and my list is STILL not complete. What am I like?
Tea will possibly be lentil bolognese and pasta. R2 is currently talking about 'comfort food' midweek teas. Seems last night's fish fingers and mash wasn't too far of the mark........ 🤣
Right, can't think of owt else particularly MSE/MFW to add. So best shake-a-tail-feather and get list making!
Ta for popping in. Appreciated.

Good to hear you are not missing out on the joys of oats! In fact your DH and LG are showing a serious porridge dedication.
Enjoy your day

Another porridge lover here. I am well jealous of your outdoor drying success. Not had a breezy day nor more than half hour of sun for ages. Can't wait to see washing on the line, it's one of my great pleasures. And we have snow forecast again so it Will be a while3

Good Evening!
Tdq - I was so pleased with the sunshine yesterday - especially as it was not forecast. Today in contrast, has been the epitome of dreich! There wasn't even a breeze. Any washing out today would have come back in as wet as it was put out.
I'm ducking in early, LG is snoozing and I've planned out tea, and think I may have a bit of telly-watching as a treat tonight. Don't usually indulge, so it will be a bit different.
Nowt at all appeared on the property pages today. So no brain cells expended there.
Tea this evening is to be lentil bolognese with pasta; and for those that will eat them, shredded, steamed sprouts. The sprouts are scottish in origin, courtesy of MrM. I was also lucky that their 'wonky' onions were red today. 50p for a kilo. I had to stop myself buying 2 packs...... As it was, with food and household items, I spent £45 today......... There were chickpeas in mrL today, but probably at a ratio of 1:8 with the butterbeans they are co-packed with, and there weren't many tins of butterbeans..... And yes, this is a continuation of a convo started over on Cheery's thread......
Today I am grateful for these 3 things;
1) memory making with LG
2) money for food and the ability to transport it home (not lost on me......)
3) lengthening days - even in the mizzle, it stayed lighter for longer this evening.....
Ta for popping in and standing up for oats! 😁

Glad you managed to get hold of some chickpeas Greying! 😁 I'm delighted to report that Mr Cheery returned with a couple of tins himself yesterday (although he's already eaten one of them so I'll have to hurry up if I want a look in!)
We had a small bit of unexpected sunshine too 😊5
