Central heating not working

I bought a house a couple of months ago and cannot get the central heating to work. It was working fine when I bought it and at the time i switched it off. So the heating system is;
- Worcester Bosch Greenstar 15Ri Regular Gas Boiler
- Siemens RWB9 Programmer
- EHE0200361 RF Programmable Room Thermostat
So firstly, the hot water works fine.
The steps I have done;
- On the programmer I have tried all the settings from AUTO to constantly ON. When on, the light for CH comes on
- On the room thermostat, I have set the temperature to 20 degrees. Again tried all the modes inc timer and manual.
- The valves on the radiators are all on.
Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Hi 330d.Thanks for the clear post with lots of the important info :-)Ok, we can say that the boiler is working, 'cos it heats the hot cylinder. We can pretty much say the Siemens timer is working 'cos it manages to turn on the boiler and valve to heat up the hot water. And you say the CH light also comes on as it should. That's usually pretty conclusive.Next in the control line is the wireless Prog Stat which appears to be a Center Brand logo'd item (with apologies for their spelling).This is in two parts - the actual controller which is battery-powered (you've checked that the 'low battery' symbol isn't on or flashing?) and the receiver. The receiver has, I think from the pictures, TWO lights? If so, one will likely be 'power' to show it's powered up, and the other will come on when the control unit has 'called for heat'; ie when the boiler is being told to come on.So the next step is - check the batteries, and check the two units are connecting wirelessly. And check what the lights are doing.Make sure the Siemens is CH-ON when checking the Center Brand items.

The actual controller seems to be working fine, it has no low battery symbol or any errors. When i switch the unit on, the the burner symbol comes on which should in turn fire the boiler.
On the reciever I will check the lights. But i 'think' its fine as when I switch the controller on i can hear a click from the receiver.1 -
Cool - can you confirm that the receiver is working ok - that light should, I understand, come on.Also, that button on the receiver is - again I think - an override, so press that and it should turn on the boiler manually. Does it?(have a read of the instructions).1

Could it be something as simple as the boiler central heating temperature dial have being turned right down by accident? We have seperate controls for hot water and heating on our boiler. Alternatively, faulty room thermostat not sensing actual room temperature.

I'd check the motorised valve first, assuming you have one. They often get stuck when the heating has been off for a while; sometimes a little nudge does the job.

What is the light on the front of the boiler itself doing when the heating should be on?But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.
